Ever since I got the design concept for Musashi, the 2nd ship of the Yamato-class in Azur Lane, I kept thinking about how to present the Sakura Empire's dignified elegance in this Bridal cosplay. The layered white pleated fabric combined with lace tulle, an off-the-shoulder top design, sheer long gloves, and a subtle White thigh-highs outfit underneath created a sacred wedding dress feel while adding a playful touch. Purple elements served as the finishing touch: purple diamond pendants dangling from the hairpiece, purple gradient highlights at the ends of my hair, a bouquet of long-stemmed lavender roses, and scattered flower strings prevented the dominant white from looking plain. Laser ribbon accents added a dreamy sheen, casting subtle color reflections under various convention lights.
The shooting location was indoor dark grey concrete with typical convention spotlights and blurred crowds. Such an environment demands high lighting and composition skills. Photographer @Pulao411 did an exceptional job; we found balanced lighting corners in the hall, using the bouquet and skirt train to capture natural dynamics while preserving tulle texture from harsh overhead lights. The main challenges for this Musashi cosplay were the long train and fluffy beast ears. Though beautiful, the white train easily dirtied at the convention, requiring careful lifting while walking. The beast ears were clipped onto the wig and reinforced with bobby pins against sharp movements. Long straight black hair with purple ombre tips, paired with a lace veil, leaned towards a cool, solemn elegance.
The entire shooting process was delightful as we captured sitting poses, standing dress-lifting shots, and half-body close-ups. Holding the lavender bouquet immediately immersed me in character. Since the bouquet handle was long, posture variations—whether dignified or casual—brought distinct breathing room to these convention photos. Looking back at the convention state after the session, white veil styling heavily relies on clean makeup. Since Musashi possesses a dignified, noble aura, eye makeup was kept refined, emphasizing sharp eyeliner and lashes with a natural orange-red lip tone. Details like diamond badges and pearl necklaces retained original metallic and pearl textures during editing. The sheer, subtly glossy tulle fabric showed rich layering in these convention photos. Though preparations from dressing to arranging the train were tedious, seeing the final work made it all worthwhile. Purple flower strings on the floor served as foreground elements, enhancing depth of field and softening the ambiance. Special thanks to the photographer's patient guidance for delivering such clean, harmonious solo shots amidst convention noise. Musashi of the Sakura Empire is renowned for being calm and powerful; portraying her with a gentle bridal touch felt truly fortunate.
