[Bismarck cosplay] Retro Study Photoshoot of Azur Lane's Iron Blood Leader

Putting on this black high-slit dress, wearing the matching gold epaulets and neckerchief, especially that cross pendant, completely transforms my aura from everyday life in an instant. As a core character of the Iron Blood faction, I needed to convey an unhurried composure and all-controlling presence through body language and expressions.

To recreate Bismarck's blonde hair and blue eyes, I selected a lighter shade of long golden-blonde wig paired with translucent blue contact lenses. The makeup emphasized an upturned eyeliner and three-dimensional brow bone structure, with a darker berry-colored lipstick to bring out a touch of Iron Blood sharpness amid the cold elegance.

The design of this cosplay costume actually places high demands on body shape; the high-slit dress showcases leg lines while requiring good structural support. Thigh-high stockings fit snugly on the thighs, with golden edge trims visually elongating the proportions. The red lining of the coat echoes the striped neckerchief on the shoulders, simple yet weighty. Putting on the glossy black platform high heels instantly added significant height, better supporting a posture as poised and erect as a shipgirl commander.

On the shooting day, a retro study was chosen as the location for retro style photography. The stained glass window in the background was a major plus, as light filtering through created a mysterious, ancient atmosphere. For props, I prepared a chessboard, a wine glass, and a candlestick. The stained glass windows, red walls, and vintage wooden desk paired with this uniform provided a timeless texture. In particular, holding up the wine glass filled with dark red liquid required maintaining graceful movements while preventing the liquid from sloshing. The photographer on site continuously adjusted rim and side lighting, striving to capture the lustrous texture of the costume fabrics.

Standing in the scene, surrounded by bookshelves and vintage furniture, I naturally felt compelled to steady my posture and avoid letting any flaws show in my expression. The most interesting aspect of cosplay is using external hair/makeup styling and specific scenarios to detach one's mental state from everyday mundanity. Of course, there were many minor hiccups during shooting, such as high heels slipping easily on wooden floors or long hair catching on epaulets—challenges that required quick adjustments on the spot.

Many people specifically ask about the leg adornments in this look. Indeed, the thigh-high stockings offer great wrapping, and the golden trimmed border design not only echoes the metallic tones of the epaulets and necklace, but also extends the visual focus downward. When shooting this kind of outfit, we spend considerable time smoothing out stockings to avoid unwanted glare or wrinkles. The black leather-look high heels showed lovely reflections under warm lighting, feeling very solid whether stepping on wooden chairs or leather trunks.

In my view, this character embodies more than just external magnificence and majesty; she possesses an effortless, decisive composure. In this setting, I tried to express a serene quietness that remains guarded even off the battlefield using relatively relaxed postures, such as sitting by the desk holding a glass, or leaning slightly forward to hold eye contact with the camera.

The golden-blonde hair on top was extremely long; during preparation, I spent nearly an hour combing and styling it to ensure bangs fit the face contour naturally without blocking sight during shooting. To give hair strands a breathable feel under lighting, subtle micro-curls were added so it wouldn't look overly rigid. Post-processing was aligned with ambient light to restore atmospheric mood—overall warm tones with slightly lifted shadows, producing an oil painting-like texture.
