My two-day schedule at CP30 Hangzhou Anime Convention was packed to the brim, and the most memorable highlight was getting up close to the official booth and taking incredible photos with the cosplayers. Azur Lane has always been one of my favorite titles, so being there in person and enjoying the warm offline atmosphere among fellow fans was truly amazing.
Let's talk about the photos taken with the cosplayers. The silver-white hair styling on the cover is truly the soul of the whole look—from the black-and-gold tailored outfit to the delicate metal accessories around the neck, everything felt substantial and premium. To stay faithful to the character's setting, we snapped shots at a real-life palace-style staircase, adding immense flair to that icy, noble aura. For cosplay, wig volume and styling directly dictate the fidelity of character representation; the cosplayers' wigs were not only voluminous, but the fringe thickness and layering also matched the character design flawlessly. I especially noticed the gold tassels resting near the collarbone and the eagle prop perched on the arm—these intricate props required substantial load-bearing and physical coordination on site.
Looking closely at the costume details in the photos, the choice of colored contact lenses was also remarkably thoughtful—blue-grey, pale green, and pink lenses formed a harmonious resonance with the characters' hair colors. The girl with grey-blue highlights wore a headpiece with intricate, expansive lace ruffles; crafting such outfits featuring metallic sheen and 3D embellishments by hand would take an immense amount of time, clearly showing how much dedication the cosplayers brought to this event.
The staircase group photo in Photo 6 carries an incredible aura. On the left is an animal-ear headpiece with black veil paired with a peacock green reflective maxi dress; in the center is bright blue curly hair adorned with silver tassel accents; on the right is a one-shoulder black off-the-shoulder gown paired with short brown hair. Every single costume was packed with custom details—the curve of the animal ears, the sheer lightness of the veil, and the metallic ring buckle designs on the garments all showcased extraordinary professionalism. In particular, the facial makeup was clear and flawless, with lip colors complementing the eye makeup palette, keeping the overall look distinct without ever looking muddy.
Speaking of the offline convention experience, despite the massive crowds at CP30, the official photo spots were well-organized and lit with comfortable ambient lighting. During the actual shoot, even without professional lighting rigs and relying solely on the venue's soft lighting, an unedited photo straight out of camera from a smartphone held up flawlessly. The warm chandelier light fell gently across their faces, and together with the rich color contrast of the red carpet and golden staircase banisters, brought the subjects vividly to life. Achieving this kind of convention-floor unedited photo straight out of camera truly tests a cosplayer's natural foundation and makeup skills.
As a cosplayer who frequently attends offline events, what I value most is the opportunity to interact with the official staff and performers. Bringing the emotion and charm experienced in games and animations to life through real people creates the strongest emotional bridge between fans and the official team. Seeing the incredible presence of the official cosplayers at CP30 truly inspired me to delve even deeper into character details.
Summing up this trip, compared to the outfits I prepared myself, the official cosplayers' styling delivered an outstanding visual impact. From the layered cut of the wigs and the precise placement of false lashes, to the figure-like quality of the prop displays, everything displayed a level of mastery far above the norm. This is precisely why we love attending offline events: it allows our passions to be seen and recognized. Getting to pose alongside fellow fans possessing god-tier looks and top-tier costuming was an experience of pure, unadulterated joy.
