[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane New Year Qipao: Fluffy Warmth for Winter cosplay

The official Cheshire Cosplay photoshoot in the New Year Qipao has finally arrived! After wrapping up this shoot, I was in a state of complete burnout. Today, I'd like to share the behind-the-scenes log of this Winter cosplay creation. This Azur Lane New Year Qipao design offered immense room for creative expression in terms of garment structure. The outer white fluffy capelet was very thick and plush, paired inside with a red-and-gold trimmed qipao, while the lower half featured White stockings and red high heels. To seamlessly fit the overall winter ambiance, I chose a short wig accented with bluish-gray highlights, topped with that remarkably substantial red-and-white headpiece. The headpiece's lace, golden patterns, red roses, and tassels added immense depth and layering before the camera lens.

For makeup, I deliberately accentuated the blush on my cheeks, paired with downcast eyes, aiming to evoke a quiet, reserved, and subtly delicate mood. To create contrast against the light-gray backdrop, we adjusted the studio lighting angles repeatedly, striving to bring out full dimensionality in both the white fluff and the red blooms of the headpiece. The shooting process was an absolute test of physical stamina. That fluffy outerwear felt sweltering once worn, and under the blazing studio lights, it felt just like sitting in a sauna. Meanwhile, the weight of the headpiece meant every turn of my head had to be careful, as the slightest lapse would throw off my balance. Setting the wig also took considerable effort; keeping the clean curves of the bangs and sideburns required a generous amount of styling spray—though the smell was quite strong, I endured it for the sake of the visual outcome.

Regarding posing, we chose semi-squats, side-sitting, and bowing the head with clasped hands. While appearing simple, maintaining a naturally relaxed, unforced sitting posture meant my core muscles remained tense throughout. Especially in the side-sitting pose, to keep the frame from looking rigid, I shifted my center of gravity to the side, letting my leg lines extend naturally while adjusting ankle angles multiple times to avoid looking overly staged. Photographer Xingqi provided invaluable composition advice: generous negative space not only directed visual focus onto the outfit and personal demeanor, but also infused a narrative storytelling depth.

The palette of this outfit is strikingly vivid; the cool tones of the bluish-gray hair contrasted sharply against the intense crimson. While visually impactful, exposure control during shooting had to be razor-precise to prevent red clipping or losing delicate textures in the white fleece. To ensure the fluffy texture stood out, a small fan was brought in on set to blow reverse airflow, fluffing up the fleece. From suiting up in this gear to fine-tuning details and finally packing up, several consecutive hours of high-intensity shooting pushed my body to its limit. Though I was completely exhausted and speechless afterward, as someone who obsesses over details, as long as the final images faithfully convey that tranquil, alluring winter aura in this Winter cosplay, all prior exhaustion is well worth it. This Cheshire Cosplay in the New Year Qipao marked a brand-new stylistic exploration for me, and I hope everyone enjoys this distinctive visual expression.
