Recreating Hikawa Sayo this time involved considerable fine-tuning from pre-shoot hair and makeup to the formal session. The aqua-blue wig was prone to static, so I sprayed wig conditioner and combed it smooth with a wide-tooth comb prior to wearing. The long side sections were gently curved outward using a curling iron so they draped naturally across my shoulders rather than falling stiffly. Since these were close-up frames, the visual focus rested around the face, making it essential to keep loose strands from obscuring the eyes. To achieve a realistic root line, I applied hair wax to tame flyaways at the crown and trimmed the bangs precisely to brush the eyebrows, framing my face while drawing attention directly to the eyes. For contact lenses, I chose vivid green ones that revealed a subtle yellow-green gradient under natural light; the eye makeup was adjusted accordingly to harmonize with this shade. A wash of beige and light brown spanned the eye socket, deepened with dark brown at the outer corners. The eyeliner was drawn slender, extended out horizontally at the corner to enlarge the eyes without looking heavy, finished with curled lashes and lengthening mascara. A cool-toned porcelain base paired with soft straight brows kept the makeup pristine.
As for the wardrobe, the sailor suit featured a crisp white collar with clean black trim and a muted dark-red necktie that added tactile depth. Over this, I layered a camel knit cardigan with sleeves pushed up slightly for an effortless touch. For the set, I selected a cozy indoor corner with a wardrobe and hanging everyday garments to infuse genuine slice-of-life realism. Lighting came from a key softbox positioned directly in front, illuminating the face while bestowing a gentle sheen upon the aqua-blue hair. Because the wig color was vibrant, I lowered the camera's exposure compensation by one-third stop to prevent highlights from blowing out. Hunting for poses true to Sayo's character, I experimented with multiple gestures before settling on resting my hand lightly beside my chin with fingers curled naturally. Directing my gaze toward the lens with a slightly unfocused detachment and keeping the lips relaxed and neutral captured her calm, restrained temperament without an artificial smile. Mid-shoot, we paused several times to straighten the collar and readjust the tie, while translucent powder was pressed on regularly to prevent shine. The shoot lasted around two hours—an immersive roleplay experience marked by continuous tweaks to wig contours and eye expressions.
