Today, I wrapped up shooting Seiran from I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day in the outdoor area at CICF. Diving straight in, today's focus centered on capturing outdoor light, shadow, and dynamic tension. Recreating the character took considerable effort on hairstyling: a high, straight black ponytail paired with blunt bangs and loose face-framing strands, allowing the wig fibers to render silky smooth under outdoor daylight. For makeup, the red contacts served as the soul of the look; paired with deepened red eyeshadow at the outer corners and elongated eyeliner, they sculpted a calm yet detached gaze. To complement the dark blue sailor dress, I wore chunky black platform ankle boots, which not only visually elongated leg proportions, but also facilitated dynamic action poses across the outdoor terrain.
The garment is a deep navy long-sleeved dress crowned by a white sailor collar striped in blue and white, with puff sleeves and a cinched waist keeping the silhouette crisp. For props, the brown short sword with its crossguard was the centerpiece. To convey realism, I explored several poses: gripping the sword two-handed required anchoring my core, tensing arm muscles slightly, and locking my gaze along the blade tip. Raising one leg into an attack stance caught the wind in the skirt and ponytail, creating crisp motion captures. Between takes, I picked up the prepared white lilies. The gentleness of the lilies contrasted poetically with the cool tone of the navy uniform—turning slightly over the shoulder or kneeling on one knee cradling the blossoms brought a quiet stillness to the frame.
Outdoor shoots demand keen attention to utilizing natural light. Because the wardrobe is dark, flat light easily renders it muddy, so we maximized reflections from glass facades and dappled light filtering through greenery. Holding the sword while half-crouched on the turf required constant core recalibration to ensure the skirt pleats fanned out gracefully. Every movement had to remain sharp and decisive to highlight the weapon's edge. Surrounding purple ruellias and green shrubbery echoed the dark blue attire beautifully. The pose design leaned toward combat readiness interwoven with floral serenity. Nailing an outdoor set requires not just personal poise, but continuous angle coordination with the photographer to keep passersby out of the frame. Today's composition and lighting left me deeply satisfied, fulfilling every expectation.
