[Shimoe Koharu Cosplay] Monologue of a Disciplinary Committee Member Not Relying on Sensei on International Children's Day

Looking back at the day of the shoot, to capture the character's everyday school life feel, I specially selected two venues rich in original world atmosphere. One was a school locker adorned with heart stickers and pink hooks, and the other was a classroom desk with sunlight filtering through venetian blinds. This white-and-pink venue lighting paired with her pink-and-white color palette and black sailor suit achieved an exceptionally high degree of visual synergy.

Preparation for this look involved many details. The off-the-shoulder black Sailor suit outfit wasn't stiff or overly formal like conventional uniforms, but rather carried a touch of casual ease and laziness. The pink gradient ribbon at the collar served as the top visual focus of the top, perfectly balancing the heaviness of black with a hint of playfulness. Meanwhile, her signature element—the pink halo headpiece on top—underwent numerous fixing adjustments before shooting. Because it features black feathers and hair ornaments above, we needed to ensure both a floating, layered feel on camera and stability during wide head movements. The wig was custom pink-and-white gradient long straight hair. To complement the top headpiece, the bangs were trimmed with textured edges, which, combined with pink contact lenses and a thin black choker, brought out her character traits wonderfully.

Below, I paired a deep burgundy short skirt with a black mesh trim intentionally peeking out from the hem, echoing the top's cuffs and dark tones nicely. For socks, I chose pink-trimmed white over-the-knee socks; this length and design sculpted leg lines beautifully, allowing the composition of the first photo seated in front of the lockers to display a natural and unforced sense of extension.

State of mind during shooting was essential. The second pose at the school desk was set in a moment of previewing lessons or dazing off, with hands folded over an open notebook and eyes looking straight into the lens, capturing her earnest side through this calm state. The first photo sitting on the wooden floor, shot from a slightly low angle beside a pink-and-white covered notebook, aimed to present her innocent and lighthearted side during off-class time. The photographer made excellent use of soft indoor lighting during candid captures without harsh shadows, giving skin a translucent fair quality that suited the dreamlike filter feel of Anime cosplay.

Regarding the question raised in the post—"does not relying on Sensei count as growing up?"—I pondered this frequently while preparing this look. Characters in many fictional works are often granted "perfect" growth, but Koharu feels to me more like a stubborn tug-of-war between "dependence" and "independence." She isn't a mature, perfect disciplinary committee member from the start; she clings to things, but slowly evolves through daily interactions. This grounded, slightly clumsy yet opinionated trait is remarkably vivid.

Sharing this set of photos on International Children's Day isn't about forced youthfulness, but feeling that her mindset aligns perfectly with that transitional phase from "childhood" to "youth." We might all want to grow up quickly to prove we can accomplish things independently without relying on others' support, yet deep down in our hearts, we often retain a sense of dependency on familiar environments and people. This contradiction is the norm of growing up.

I personally love the contrasting feel presented in these two photos: one quietly seated at a classroom desk, obedient and earnest; the other relaxed sitting on the floor, revealing a touch of lively spirit. From costumes and props to studying her expressions, everything strove to get closer to her inner character profile. Being able to present a beloved character through cosplay while endowing it with real-world emotional resonance on a specific holiday made this shoot far more rewarding than simply releasing a single picture.

The world of Blue Archive itself is a place overflowing with youthful atmosphere, where characters' actions and thoughts often spark wondrous resonance. Using concrete makeup, costuming, and scenes to embody her day serves as a genuine record of this affection. Watching her stand before familiar campus elements wearing her signature halo is perhaps the finest tribute of all.
