[Flandre Scarlet Cosplay] Touhou Project: Convention Photos After Big Sister Nibbled Off the Ponytail

The Convention photos from this event are finally sorted! I cosplayed Flandre Scarlet from Touhou Project. With heavy crowds and complex venue conditions, handling substantial props made the entire shooting experience far from effortless. Starting with the wig, styling the curly hair took nearly an hour; however, upon arriving and messing around with my "sister" (a friend), the signature side ponytail was grabbed and ruined—hence the title's running gag. Panicking slightly, I had to cover it up with the red veil and black wings from behind to make do during shooting.

Moving on to the outfit, it was a red-and-white Lolita dress with a huge bell-shaped petticoat that demanded immense effort to smooth out every time I sat down, while the ruby brooch beneath the collar bow had wonderful texture. The black wings on my back featured a row of colorful crystals; being in dim lighting, hard flash lighting was necessary to capture their sparkling translucency. For shooting, we scouted a dimly lit corner under a top light, taking initial frames seated on a black chair before laying a white plush blanket across the floor. To highlight fair skin tones and dress craftsmanship, the photographer continuously guided my posing angles. For props, I prepared a glossy red apple and a teddy bear tied with red ribbon; holding them made it much easier to evoke that quiet, slightly melancholic expression.

Due to the heavy dress layers and platform Mary Jane shoes, walking was fairly exhausting. Considerable thought went into the makeup: red contact lenses paired with heavier pink eyeshadow and sharp eyeliner transformed the look into that of an exquisite porcelain doll. Details of leg warmers and Lace socks were carefully coordinated—white lace borders paired with deep red shoes and black cross ankle straps significantly elevated fidelity. We explored numerous angles to showcase elegant leg lines through together or crossed legs. Producing clean, atmospheric Convention photos in such a chaotic venue wasn't easy; the fun mishaps (including that poor ponytail) created lasting memories. Though exhausting, seeing the final photo set made every bit of effort worthwhile, faithfully conveying the character's blend of adorable charm and enigmatic mystery in this Cosplay photo sharing.
