This set of finished photos was shot in a park during the afternoon, with sunlight filtering through the gaps in the leaves onto stones and benches, forming natural dappled light spots. To present the agile image of the Ice and snow spirit, ice-blue tones were heavily used in the hair and makeup. The wig reveals a delicate sheen under natural light, and combined with the large bow and snowflake embellishments on top of the head, it is visually sufficient to convey the character's cool tone.
The detailed craftsmanship of the costume is highly layered. A dark red bow at the neckline is the only bright color on the entire body, serving as an excellent accent within the blue and white outfit. The off-the-shoulder ruffled cuffs and the cut-out blank spaces on both sides of the waist preserve a sense of lightness while preventing the look from appearing overly complex. The lace stitching on the skirt hem is extremely fine and has undergone multi-layered pleating, ensuring that the dress naturally presents a perfect fluffy curve whether sitting or standing on a rock. The ice crystal wings on the back are the soul of the entire look. These wings, made of translucent material with subtle shimmering particles, can easily look dull when light is insufficient, making the lighting requirements for the shoot exceptionally harsh.
The shooting location was chosen within the forest exterior, and the biggest challenge was the constantly changing natural light. The first two photos were taken on rocks by the stream, where the rough stone texture formed a great material contrast with the soft fabric. Holding the ice flower prop with both hands helps to better guide the viewer's attention to the face and hands. The later photos transitioned to a wooden bench area, where the lighting was softer, and the shadows of the leaves formed natural patterns on the fallen leaves on the ground. The overall environmental color temperature leaned toward a warm yellow-green, colliding with the character's cool-toned clothing to create a great visual effect.
During the shooting process, I intentionally incorporated more dynamic energy into the pose design. To accurately convey the character's playfulness, instead of sitting upright, I worked with the photographer to constantly try capturing from various angles. The third full-body standing photo displays the supportive feel of the large wings in the breeze, while the later close-ups on the bench enhance the focus of the gaze. Especially when facing the lens, to highlight the trait of being 'the smartest,' I tried various postures such as raising an eyebrow, resting my chin on my hand, and extending a hand to invite, hoping to bring a confident and playful feedback to the viewers. To match this demeanor, the eyeliner was drawn exceptionally sharply, which, paired with the light grey-blue colored contact lenses, indeed gives the gaze more penetration during close-ups.
Moving around on large rocks while wearing this costume required extra attention to my footing. Although the white chunky-heeled buckle shoes match the dress perfectly, it is easy to lose balance when walking on uneven ground. Fortunately, the photographer's timing in capturing the movements was highly precise, so not much time was wasted due to scene transitions. The entire shoot lasted for several hours, and the final finished photos maintained a fresh and dreamy tone. The semi-translucent wings and the just-right lighting allowed the character's state in the final product to possess both the tsundere vibe of the character itself and a touch of outdoor relaxation close to nature. This forest exterior indeed perfectly aligned with the original design intention of this costume, making the efficiency of the entire shoot exceed expectations.
