[Reimu Hakurei Cosplay] Azure Shrine Maiden of Touhou Project: Daily Life in a Blue and White Outfit

Regarding this Azure Spirit Dream outfit, when I first received it, I hesitated over whether I could pull off this blue tone. In Touhou Project, Reimu Hakurei's most classic image is the red-and-white shrine maiden dress. This Azure Spirit Dream outfit is a fan derivative design, replacing the original red sections with a deeper grayish blue. The top is a midriff-baring cropped design that elongates body proportions nicely. The lower half features a blue A-line skirt with ruffles, paired with large white flare sleeves. Overall, it preserves the classical feel of shrine maiden attire while adding many cute anime elements.

The wig is a very deep blue, paired with an animal ear headpiece decorated with white lace and knots, instantly bringing out a cute Kemonomimi girl aura. For props, I held a stick similar to a blessing wand or kagura bell, which felt quite good to hold in the second photo. Since I'm not very tall, this A-line skirt with white spliced ruffles, combined with white lace socks and black Mary Janes on my feet, flatters my leg lines really well.

Many cosplayers might think complex outfits like this are troublesome for photography, but the fabric of this costume is actually quite breathable. The blue denim-textured fabric paired with white cotton lace doesn't feel overly heavy. The detachable sleeve covers produce a flowing effect when walking, making them great for dynamic snapshots during conventions or outdoor shoots.

Although today was just a simple mirror selfie in my dorm without professional lighting or a dedicated outdoor set, I think this casual at-home atmosphere is quite nice too. It better captures the character's everyday, more grounded side. This Azure Spirit Dream concept is actually better suited for theme shoots centered around Gensokyo's daily life and bonds. I personally love the light, clean feel of this Blue and white outfit, so during styling, even the orange bow tie became a finishing touch, breaking up the monotony of the large blue area.

Overall, this outfit was very faithful to the image design. The charm of Touhou Project lies in its classic character designs and vast fan-made secondary creation ecosystem. Wearing Azure Spirit Dream as a derivative form gave me a magical feeling. This post is simply to record my outfit and makeup. Touhou Project cosplay sometimes places great emphasis on prop details; the white cloth strips on my stick could actually be made more flowy, so I might modify them myself next time I have the chance.

Regarding photo composition, I chose a full-length mirror to showcase the overall styling, so the proportions of shoes, socks, and skirt hem can be clearly seen. Standing with weight on my back leg makes my posture look upright. The second photo is relatively more complete, whereas the first one holding the prop felt a bit loose.

Having time today, I organized and took selfies in this Blue and white outfit for Azure Spirit Dream. Loving this grayish blue, I was in a great mood while taking photos. Though my room is a bit messy, it carries an authentic daily life feel.
