This time, I tried the "Blue Reimu" look, changing the overall color tone from the original classic red to a cool, light blue. When refining this costume, my biggest concern was the texture and layering of the fabric. To prevent the large bow on the head from collapsing during movement, I specifically added layers of tulle, which makes the transparency at the edges more apparent under the light, appearing more agile visually. For makeup, I chose a color scheme that leans towards a cool and aloof style, trying to capture that ethereal and slightly detached atmosphere in the lens.
During the shoot, controlling light and shadow was critical. Light-colored clothes easily lose detail in strong light, so the photographer and I kept looking for shadows of the architecture itself, using side lighting to outline the contours of the costume. Although everyone is very familiar with the character of Reimu Hakurei, this visual presentation based on color variation can often bring unexpected surprises to the audience. Every fine adjustment to the details of the costume is actually balancing character accuracy with personal aesthetic expression; this persistence in details is also to present the most ideal image texture in front of the lens.
