[Ganyu Cosplay] Genshin Impact Liyue Qixing Secretary, Flowing Blue Hair and Ethereal Vibe

The theme of this Genshin Impact Ganyu Cosplay shoot focused heavily on combining the elements of "water" and "sheer fabric." Having previously seen many photos using acrylic or mirror-reflective materials to create water effects, I felt it perfectly matched the character's cold, detached, yet gentle nature. Thus, I conceptualized this set of images centered around mirror reflections.

Let's discuss the styling details first. The light blue hair is trimmed with layered bangs and small braids cascading down the sides. Combined with the red horns and white flowers, it creates a sharper visual focus in terms of color contrast. The lace collar around the neck is embedded with a transparent gemstone pendant, resting right below the collarbone to elegantly elongate the neck line. The main outfit features a white tube top design with silver-gray embroidery and appliqués along the edges. The lower part consists of a multi-layered sheer skirt with a gradient transitioning from white to light blue and finally to deep blue. This patchwork and gradient really test the texture of the fabric. To fit the theme of the shoot, I specifically chose lightweight organza, which presents a semi-transparent, dreamy fluid effect under the lights.

The semi-transparent blue sleeves on the arms and the delicate white lace-up straps around the ankles add rich details to the look. Especially the ankle straps, combined with the barefoot look, help elongate the visual appearance of the legs in the frame. During the shoot, the photographer and I kept adjusting our poses because the reflective floor is both an advantage and a challenge—if the posture isn't right, the reflection can look messy. Ultimately, we settled on the current sitting and lying poses, trying our best to make the body lines and the waves of the sheer skirt echo the rippling effect of the water's surface.

The lighting for this set of photos was also a major focus. The overall environment was illuminated with cool white light, while a softbox was used on the front side for facial fill light to ensure a translucent skin tone. A cool white complexion paired with blue and white attire looks exceptionally pure and ethereal. The white roses, strings of pearls, and birdcage props in the background were used to dot the edges of the frame to keep it from looking too empty. When shooting this kind of texture-focused set, there is no need to make overly forced expressions; just relax your eyes and maintain a slightly lazy and soft feeling, as the costume and scene are already quite rich, and too much expression would take away from the focus.

Although it is a mirror photography shoot, positioning the camera beforehand is crucial. The angle between the lens and the ground must be exactly at the position where the reflection is sharpest so that the figure and the shadow look complete. Even though the outfit looks light and airy, the multi-layered sheer skirt actually restricts poses a bit; shooting while sitting down is relatively comfortable, allowing the skirt hem to spread out naturally. Judging from the final results, the light and shadow beautifully accentuated the translucent feel of the fabric, and the blue and white color scheme looks very high-end in the cool-toned set. The entire shooting process was very smooth, and I truly enjoyed this process of focusing on the image texture and capturing the character's charm.
