For this shoot, the key light was a Jinbei HD-250MAX paired with an 80cm octagonal softbox, while the side-backlight was a bare-bulb Jinbei HD-100 flash, triggered by the Q7III Sony-edition trigger, delivering Sony straight out of camera results with the Sony A7M4. In the complex environment of the Guangzhou Anime Convention, this lighting setup provided exceptionally reliable illumination.
At the Guangzhou Anime Convention (Firefly ACG Expo), the foot traffic was heavy and ambient lighting was chaotic. The octagonal softbox cast very gentle light onto the face, effectively subduing distracting background bokeh and light spots. Meanwhile, the bare HD-100 as a rim and side-backlight sharply contoured the blue streaks in my hair and the silhouette of the black dress. This striking contrast preserved an aura of tranquil deep space even amidst the bustling convention hall.
Regarding this Label cosplay styling, the black dress featuring a blue starry sky print along the skirt is a distinctive hallmark. The black-and-blue highlighted long hair paired with glasses, accompanied by the hefty spellbook and fluffy bunny slippers, presents an intellectual side while harboring mystery and charm.
During the shoot, several poses were explored to find the right mood. In the first shot standing on one leg, the octagonal softbox balanced the frontal exposure while the side-backlight accentuated the torn, dynamic aesthetic of the blue starscape pattern, making the pose fluid. The subsequent two shots opted for kneeling poses, where upper body and leg silhouettes were framed through slight high-angle perspectives and skirt-pulling gestures, elegantly displaying the dress's fabric texture and leg lines under the lighting. The final shot captures me seated on a folding chair cradling the bunny plush with a relaxed expression—a truly authentic candid snapshot from the convention floor.
The vintage book prop and small leather pouch at the waist enhanced the retro, arcane aesthetic. The crisp, punchy light from the bare flash lent an upscale feel against the dark background, directly evoking the desired cool-toned ambiance. The Sony A7M4 demonstrated exceptional Sony straight out of camera color rendition and dynamic range, preserving crisp detail even under intricate lighting setups.
Overall, this Anime-style photography convention shoot went very smoothly. Through thoughtful lighting design, the mix of cool composure and enigmatic allure intrinsic to Label was brought to life.
