These Convention photos from the Guangzhou Anime Convention at CICF Expo are finally ready! The venue lighting was particularly ideal for capturing shots with backlit effects. Choosing to shoot in the tiled floor area of the convention hall provided bright, translucent natural light. Combined with wide-aperture bokeh, it allowed the fluffy animal ears and large yellow tail to create a soft, dreamlike aura, perfectly capturing Suzuran's gentle, healing, yet sprightly persona in Arknights.
Regarding outfit styling, I paired a white ruffle-collared coat with a sky-blue midi skirt; the red bow on the chest served as a finishing touch, brightening the overall palette without feeling overly heavy. The plush animal ears atop my head and the massive, fluffy golden tail behind me were absolute highlight props. To prevent the tail from looking stiff in photos, I stuffed ultra-lightweight structural supports inside, allowing it to sway naturally and fluidly even while walking or hopping. The black-eyed plushie was an irreplaceable soul accessory for this look—whether held in hand or placed beside the flower basket, it added adorable atmospheric details.
For makeup, I aimed for a clear, natural aesthetic. Since the wig was a light blonde, I bleached and brightened my eyebrows and eyelashes accordingly, pairing them with light green contact lenses to match Suzuran's signature eyes. Controlling indoor lighting was key for this look; while convention ambient light was striking, heavy reflective glare and railing shadows could easily flatten facial features. Thankfully, the photographer excelled at finding angles—capturing poses like holding the wreath staff, carrying the flower basket, or lifting the skirt for a one-legged hop at the exact split-second with optimal light and dynamism.
Despite heavy foot traffic and noisy surroundings at the venue, stepping fully into character caused outside distractions to fade away. To me, the true value of Convention photos lies not just in crisp character recreation, but in translating that warm, sunny aura into real-world spaces. Props like the white artificial flowers and green leaves wrapped around the wreath staff, along with the custom woven flower basket, fostered deep immersion during the shoot, guiding me into playful, in-character poses naturally. Wearing a cosplay outfit with fluffy ears and a tail at a convention truly draws so many kind compliments from passersby. Although lugging around all these props across the expo floor was tiring, seeing the final lighting effects and restored details makes all the effort feel deeply rewarding. I hope these bright, sunlit Convention photos allow everyone to feel Suzuran's soothing, calming warmth.
