【Natsuki Subaru cosplay】Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, A Crossdressing Photoshoot in Front of Classical Architecture - Image 1

For this Natsuki Subaru Crossdressing shoot, the greatest challenge was how to naturally blend the character's signature mischievousness and "crossdressing master" meme vibe against the grand, classical architectural backdrop. As a female cosplaying a male character's crossdressed look, I had to carefully deliberate over expressions and gestures—neither appearing overly masculine nor excessively delicate—to preserve that distinct dashing charm and gap moe.

In terms of costume, a vintage deep-blue satin long dress was chosen, offering a gorgeous sheen under the light. The massive red bow on the chest was the visual centerpiece of the entire look, requiring careful adjustments to its shape and position to give the upper body a more three-dimensional structure. The accompanying black fur collar and long gloves significantly elevated the outfit's texture.

The wig was another major highlight; the long, straight reddish-brown hair had to be exceptionally smooth, tied into a small ponytail in the back with a red hair accessory. It was quite windy on the day of the shoot, so to capture the moment when both the skirt and hair flowed in the wind, I tried repeatedly, adjusting my center of gravity to stay balanced. The inside of the skirt hem features white ruffled tiers, which, paired with the White stockings on the legs, created a striking visual impact against the backdrop of classical stone pillars and green trees.

For posing, I chose a wide-turning motion, which not only displayed the overall silhouette of the dress but also filled the movement with dynamic energy. Because the scene was set in front of classical architecture, the light filtering in from the side appeared extraordinarily luminous, creating a dreamy atmosphere. I also collaborated with the photographer across multiple angles to capture the emotional nuances in my eyes, striving to recreate the character's inherent liveliness and distinct anime charm.

This photoshoot experience gave me a deeper understanding of this costume and prop setup. Although the skirt was voluminous and easy to trip over during turns, everything was well worth it for the final photo results. Meticulously tidying every detail beforehand—such as the flatness of the collar and the fit of the stockings—is essential to presenting the best possible state before the camera. For cosplay, every character portrayal is a brand-new endeavor, and in this pairing of blue dress and White stockings, I found the exclusive essence belonging to this character.
