This photoshoot set of Kuonji Alice cosplay was completed in a freezing Snow scene forest. When I posted earlier, many friends asked how to deal with the freezing temperatures—the temperature was actually around minus 10 degrees Celsius on the shooting day. To recreate that cool, stoic, and elegant atmosphere from Witch on the Holy Night, both the coat and skirt were chosen with thick fabrics, and the fur hat blocked the wind exceptionally well. The second the camera stopped rolling, I immediately wrapped myself in a down jacket.
The shooting location featured straight, towering trees and a wooden boardwalk, providing an immense sense of spatial depth in composition. The photographer intentionally adjusted to a high angle looking down to emphasize the vast, desolate openness. For movements, we took many candid shots like Photo 1 with quick turns, releasing the shutter as the skirt flared to bring out the tiered layers of the styling, while casually revealing the tall boots and leg lines. Photo 3 is a pose sitting on a bench looking toward the side; a simple vacant, zoning-out expression perfectly matched the character's quiet, captivating presence.
In post-processing, we avoided excessive skin smoothing, mainly preserving a cold-white base tone to evoke the ethereal, otherworldly atmosphere of a witch detached from mundane concerns. I was very satisfied with the overall outcome, which captured a fantastical sense of being in a winter night. Shooting Kuonji Alice right around the time of the server release felt especially fitting against this quiet, desolate Snow scene backdrop.
Although the whole process was freezing cold and required running around, producing photos with such rich texture was completely worth it. Many details required care during shooting—for instance, this long skirt set easily gets dirty around the hem, and walking in the snow can easily soak your shoes, so every step had to be measured. Combined with the weight of the shawl and props, it was no easy feat. The final photos turned out very clean and pure without visual clutter, capturing the character's true aura. It was truly an enjoyable photography and cosplay experience.
