Pre-production for this Azur Lane Cheshire cosplay shoot took nearly half a month of preparation. For this set, I selected a blue-and-white modified cheongsam tailored with abundant lace and sheer tulle overlays. The neckline features a classic halter-style mandarin collar with a teardrop chest cutout, tapering snugly at the waist to flatter bodily contours. To faithfully honor the character design, I paired it with white over-the-knee stockings equipped with discreet non-slip bands that gracefully sculpted leg lines. For the wig, a grayish-blue bob was accented by a pair of fluffy cat ears, decorated with white lace rosettes and navy satin ribbon bows to visually balance warm and cool tones.

On the day of the shoot, the studio was bathed in cool-toned ambient light against painted floral screens and wooden lantern fixtures. The oil-paper umbrella and feather folding fan in my hands served not just as thematic props, but as wonderful tools to balance the visual composition. In terms of posing, I leaned heavily into seated postures, crossing my legs or leaning slightly forward to accentuate bodily curves. In several sequences, I deliberately let my legs extend naturally or overlapped my knees, which highlighted the delicate texture of the white stockings while evoking Cheshire's signature blend of languid, playful flirtation. Masking half of my face behind the fan or resting a finger against my cheek kept my body language fluid and relaxed.

Because the ensemble has abundant layering, shooting required constant vigilance to smooth fabric folds and align the lace trims, ensuring every angle was shown at its best. Studio mood lighting bounced across the blue-and-white silks with a gentle sheen, which, alongside the golden and deep blue tassels dangling at the bodice, enriched the overall color depth. I paid special attention to eye expression—since Cheshire is innately sweet and adorable, my gaze needed to stay lively while embracing a touch of mature elegance to match the cheongsam. The styling, makeup, and set harmonized seamlessly, and the interplay of cool and warm light added wonderful three-dimensional depth. Exhausting as it was, seeing the intricate craftsmanship of the costume faithfully captured in the final 2D frames made it entirely worthwhile.
