The outdoor sunlight at the Guangzhou Firefly Anime Games Carnival was very transparent. Choosing to appear at the anime convention as Cheshire this time gave a really good overall experience. This outdoor shoot was mainly conducted at the stainless steel guardrail area on the periphery of the convention, and I coordinated with the photographer to find some relatively clean and bright angles.
The visual focus of this costume lies in the combination of the sailor collar and accessories. The light blue sailor suit jacket carries its own refreshing vibe, with a large black bow with white stripes tied at the neckline, and the golden bell right in the center makes a slight sound when walking, heavily fitting the character setting. On the head is a cat ear headpiece with ruffles and black bows, equipped with a yellow plush small item; the thick layers of lace make the head shape very three-dimensional. To match the outfit, the wig selected a grey-blue gradient style, and the bright cyan highlights on the forehead and both sides offered just the right amount of color saturation under natural light.
The crossbody bright yellow small single-shoulder bag is a prominent color-clashing accessory for this look, forming a good color zoning with the light blue top and black pleated skirt. The lower part is paired with a black high-waisted pleated skirt featuring white lace trim at the hem, combined with white mid-calf socks and brown loafers, visually balancing the vitality of the anime character with the everyday routine of a school uniform. In fact, the weight of this costume is mainly concentrated on the headpiece and bowtie, requiring constant adjustments to the center of gravity during long periods of wear to keep the head balanced.
The photos mainly revolve around outdoor natural light. Under the wide-angle lens, the sense of lines provided by the metal guardrails enhances the extension of the frame, and coordinating between standing and kneeling postures beautifully captures that lazy yet lively temperament of the character. For example, the pose leaning against the railing with one leg can elongate the visual effect, while the kneeling pose appears softer and more tranquil. Under strong outdoor light, the texture of the wig is enhanced with more luster, and the reflection of the light blue outfit is very gentle without any highlight clipping.
The temperature on the convention day was relatively high, but the overall performance state and photo feedback met expectations quite well. During the free-roaming process, I met many photographers, and everyone's acceptance of this light blue and white color scheme paired with the bright yellow bag was quite high. From costume production details to emotion tuning during the shoot, the entire process required a certain level of tacit understanding, and the final product presented a rather natural and refreshing state. In the end, a kneeling picture was chosen as the cover because the composition is relatively centered and symmetrical, with natural bodily movements, beautifully displaying the completeness of the entire costume and the character's own temperament.
