[Chang'e cosplay] Honor of Kings: 'Dew and flower reflections' Convention Photos

Bringing Chang'e's 'Dew and flower reflections' skin from Honor of Kings to life took around a month of preparation from initial sourcing to final convention photos. Deciding on this skin was driven primarily by its ethereal, botanical-inspired fantasy design. Upon unpacking the garment, the layering surpassed my expectations: the upper body features a white fitted bodice overlaid with verdant leaf-shaped petal patterns, flowing into an asymmetrical skirt accented with vibrant azure blue. To reproduce the weightless float of the splash art, I focused on the dual, ultra-long rainbow gradient ribbons anchored to the back and sleeves with concealed snap buttons. Maneuvering across the convention floor made managing these ribbons the most demanding task. Moving quickly or navigating dense crowds risked people stepping on or entangling them; at every photo spot, I had to spend several minutes smoothing the ribbons out so they could drape naturally or billow with deliberate grace.

Hair and cosmetics were equally critical. I pre-trimmed the wig's bangs and sideburn tendrils, using abundant hairspray and bobby pins to sculpt the twin topknots into their upright, bunny-ear-like silhouettes. The violet contact lenses served as the spiritual anchor; to complement this otherworldly eye color, the eye makeup emphasized smooth gradient blending and lengthened lashes to cultivate a serene, distant gaze. The green choker around my neck was selected in a matte finish to prevent harsh glare under camera flashes. The pink lotus prop was custom-crafted by an artisan prop maker—its petals bore delicate gradient transitions, concealing a tiny LED core that cast a gentle pink luminescence against the convention hall's dark backdrops, forging an exquisite visual contrast with the white dress and pastel green accents.

Executing the shoot on-site meant dealing with complex ambient lighting. To achieve even facial illumination, the photographer paired an on-camera speedlight with a diffuser. Because the skirt is short and features a high side slit, poses required constant recalibration to flatter the leg silhouette without cluttering the drape of the skirt and flowing ribbons. After cycling through varied stances, a slight profile pose with a gently bent leg best showcased the textile layering and leg contours. The clear block-heeled sandals were chosen for breathable endurance through a full day of walking, while transparent straps minimized visual breaks along the legs to maximize elongation. Posing for consecutive hours in heels on unforgiving concrete floors took a heavy physical toll on my ankles and lower back, but seeing the ribbons caught mid-flight in the camera preview made every ounce of effort worthwhile.

Overall, the outfit drew remarkable attention across the floor, with many photographers stopping by to shoot. Convention photography always hinges on spontaneous variables—ambient lighting, pedestrian flow, and prop durability directly dictate the final result. In a dark, cavernous venue, the visual punch of 'Dew and flower reflections' stood out with radiant clarity.
