The Convention photos for this Rem cosplay casual outfit are finally organized. Because the originally planned seaside spot was crowded, we simply walked over to the outer area under an overpass bridge to shoot. Although not right on the sand, it was very close to the sea, and the cool sea breeze felt great—almost serving as a natural prop. The outfit itself is a Blue and white plaid skirt paired with an off-the-shoulder white lace top and pink-and-blue hair accessories. The overall cool color palette suited the overcast lighting nicely, giving the images a clear and translucent texture. The photographer for this shoot was Fu She 9. In fact, the hardest part of convention cosplay photography is background interference; shooting with a large-aperture telephoto lens easily blurs out ground clutter and distant passersby. The yellow-and-black curb on site served well—whether sitting on it or standing on one leg, utilizing the wide-angle perspective effectively elongated the leg proportions. When the sea breeze blew, snapping dynamic shots of the fluttering skirt looked much more lively than stiff standing poses.
This time, I chose a lightweight wig paired with pink hair clips so it wouldn't get too messy in the wind. Wig styling mainly relied on the bangs and inner curls; gently smoothing it with my hands between takes maintained its natural curve and volume. During the shoot, I experimented with gestures like reaching toward the camera, squatting with my chin in my hands, and glancing back over the shoulder. Since I wasn't wearing stockings, showing bare legs actually better matched this fresh summer aesthetic. The white soft-soled shoes were comfortable on the feet. Because the chosen spot had very even lighting, post-processing was minimal, preserving natural skin texture.
The entire photoshoot took about half an hour. Since it was an on-site convention shoot, finding the right spot took some time, and we finished just before foot traffic picked up. Previewing the raw shots on the camera screen, I knew it was a success—especially the shot sitting on the curb reaching forward, where the composition angle and leg line proportions were spot on. Beyond the venue, makeup focused heavily on pink-toned eye blending, which, combined with colored contacts, looked deep and expressive on camera without appearing overly heavy in person.
Although it was fairly windy that day, it provided great conditions for action shots. When the skirt lifted in the wind, fast shutter releases were needed to freeze the moment. This Blue and white plaid skirt has lightweight fabric that easily sticks to the legs in strong wind, so during shooting, I kept my insteps pointed to extend the calf lines. The photographer kept the camera angle low, matching the yellow-and-black curb along the road to form attractive leading lines.
Another challenge for convention photos is avoiding cluttered crowds. Since it was right next to the convention venue with many fellow fans around, I specifically found this edge spot under the bridge, using building shadows to create a large gray background. This kept the frame from looking empty while making the Blue and white plaid skirt stand out vibrantly. Lighting in this environment was diffused, without harsh facial shadows, rendering a translucent skin tone. Here's a quick makeup tip: to harmonize with the pink-and-blue palette of this outfit, I used a soft peachy-pink eyeshadow base with a berry tone layered at the outer corners, which, paired with light blue contacts, looked bright and spirited even under overcast skies. I applied hair wax beforehand to separate the wig strands into textured pieces so they wouldn't clump in the wind, maintaining airy, layered volume.
