[Rem cosplay] Foshan CW D1 Qipao Look: Ringing in a Prosperous Happy New Year in Fiery Red

Finally got the convention photos from Day 1 of the 3rd Foshan CW Anime convention, featuring this Qipao Rem cosplay look! As the New Year approaches, choosing this modified red Qipao outlined with golden-thread patterns was exceptionally fitting, perfectly capturing the festive theme of wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

Preparing the costume and props was a detailed endeavor. This red Qipao features an off-shoulder cut paired with an inner black bandeau, nicely cinching the waistline with a slit along the skirt hem. Paired with matching red leg garters and slender-strapped red high heels, the overall red-black-gold palette delivers an intense visual impact. The matching red folding fan and red envelopes served as props that enriched hand gestures wonderfully. For headwear, faux white blossoms and blue plush ears were combined with red tassel ornaments on the sides; alongside the light blue wig and blue contact lenses, they faithfully captured the character's signature features.

Regarding makeup, since the wig has a light tone, I deliberately opted for blue circle lenses. For the eyes, pinkish and red eyeshadow was layered to deepen the outer corners, bringing out a spirited yet flirtatious charm. Most of the shoot took place on the venue's red carpet, where the photographer, NightDiva, expertly found angles and utilized a large white fleece rug spread across the floor as a backdrop, creating a striking red-and-white contrast. The session revolved primarily around seated and standing poses, utilizing the fan or red envelope to partially obscure the face or direct gaze lines. Accented by red-soled heels, the leg lines were lengthened, yielding ideal results.

Cosplaying is honestly quite physically demanding: the Anime convention was packed, requiring continuous searching for suitable spots to avoid crowds in the background. Posing in heels kept my ankles and calves constantly taut, leaving them aching after standing for a while, and maintaining the wig's volume required constant vigilance. Still, it was a delightfully joyful day meeting fellow enthusiasts amidst a wonderful on-site atmosphere. Although this was my first time trying a red-and-gold Qipao look, the texture of the photos was thoroughly satisfying—achieving high character fidelity while embracing festive celebrations. Red inherently symbolizes fortune and passion, which could not be more fitting for the lively energy of an Anime convention.
