[Klee Cosplay] Mondstadt's Spark Knight from Genshin Impact, Hitting the Streets with Her Bomb!

This shoot took place in a meticulously built outdoor night-themed scene. The fountain glowed with blue ambient light, and the stone wall and angel statue behind added a lot of fairytale atmosphere. As a Klee Cosplay attempt from Genshin Impact, I wanted to bring this lively and agile feeling into reality. Holding this massive red-and-white color-blocked bomb plush toy, I repeatedly adjusted my position on the steps and by the water to balance the complete display of the prop and the character's facial expressions.

Let's first talk about the styling preparations. The blonde curly hair used a layered, trimmed wig, focusing on the airy feel of the bangs area, because if the hair strands are too dense or too close to the face, the facial contours won't look sharp enough. The elf ears, as a soulful feature, were specially chosen from a well-fitting silicone material, with the edges blended using skin wax to ensure they wouldn't easily look out of place whether looking straight at the lens or in a side-profile snapshot. The makeup eschewed overly heavy eyeshadow, focusing mainly on warm tones and blush, which, paired with the soft night lighting, presented a natural 2D feel.

The details of the clothes and props are also highly important. The red-and-white spliced dress features a well-cinched waistline cut, which, together with the black choker and gloves, creates a sharp color contrast. Securing this wide-brimmed witch hat on my head was a major project; I used invisible bobby pins and rubber bands for a double insurance, ensuring the hat wouldn't get blown askew by the wind or slide down to block my vision while walking and posing. The small red bowknot and white three-dimensional decorations on the side of the hat had excellent texture under the venue lighting.

Another challenge encountered during the shoot was this massive bomb plush prop. It's bulky with a low center of gravity, so holding it in front of my chest required intentionally leaving out space for my waist and arm lines; otherwise, the person could easily be blocked by the prop and look bloated. I tried to prop the tool slightly upward and diagonally while tilting my body slightly backward, which maintained balance and a longitudinal extension in the lens. The black gloves grasping the white area of the prop avoided merging with the red and white of the clothes, while adding a beautifully layered visual stagger.

Let's talk about the on-site lighting and color coordination. Because the main light source used a front softbox for diffuse reflection illumination, the red on the dress had a high degree of restoration without color deviations caused by uneven light sources. The blue fountain at the back served as a perfect rim light to outline the body lines. This alternating warm and cool lighting is highly suitable for night portrait photography, making it easy to capture dreamlike effects. However, due to the splashing fountain water, while snapping dynamic shots, I also had to constantly ensure that the skirt hem and wig didn't get wet, which can be considered a bit of professional insight and experience for night shoots.

Finally, shooting in such a large scene heavily requires help from the photographer and assistants, such as repeatedly confirming the fit of the wig edges and the positional proportion of the prop in the frame. The blue guest badge hanging on my chest serves as a fun witness, and from a side angle, it indicates that this shoot was completed in a relatively formal and joyful event atmosphere. I really love the texture presented in this photo; it blends the classic elements of the character—such as elf ears, red accessories, and the pointed hat—with the fantastical night portrait environment very naturally. Looking back at that night where we shot until midnight, although I was a bit exhausted, seeing this small figure standing by the pool holding a big bomb in the final convention photos makes all the hard work feel well worth it.
