[The Shorekeeper Cosplay] That Blue and White Shore Is the Proof of My Existence

"In silence, civilization continues as a shore. When the tide recedes, civilization will need a shore to endure; this shore is the starting point of our story. That shore is the proof of my existence."

Driven by this quote, I began preparing for this The Shorekeeper cosplay. As a character in Wuthering Waves cloaked in mystery and serene stillness, I deeply wanted to recreate her state of watching alone through the passage of time. Therefore, the set arrangement for this shoot was done with immense care. Stepping into the studio, vintage clocks of various sizes and Roman columns came into view; the black-and-white checkerboard floor paired with a white plush carpet created an atmosphere both classical and surreal, perfectly matching her character setting.

The biggest highlight of this look was actually the color pairing and detailed execution of the costume. This blue-and-white spliced dress on me contrasts large areas of icy blue with deep navy, featuring an asymmetrical waist cutout design complemented by ruffles and scattered crystals for a visually lightweight feel. The deep blue starry hood atop my head, accented with white butterfly decorations, serves as the soul of the entire look. Meanwhile, the fine silver chains wrapped around my arms and waist really tested our patience while dressing; the staff helped adjust them for a long time to keep the chains with a natural drape and reflective sheen. To match this Blue-themed cosplay outfit, I wore a long ice-blue wig, and for makeup, I specifically picked light eyeshadow and rosy lip tones, striving to create a cool yet gentle look.

The photographer was super supportive during the shoot, as we experimented with various postures and compositions. With abundant white veil and blue-and-white flowers arranged on set, when light filtered through the veil onto my face, the entire frame looked wonderfully translucent in this Anime-style photography set. Especially in this cover photo chosen here, where I half-crouch with one hand gently reaching forward, holding a blue butterfly between my fingers and wearing silver tassels on my wrist—this pose not only reveals the costume's lines from neck to waist, but also guides the gaze to the character's serene expression. The white vintage pillars, glass-dome table lamp, and hazy blue-and-white flowers in the background all added an ethereal texture to the overall aesthetic.

Although most decor props were heavy plaster and metal materials, and moving around searching for lighting angles in a compact set while managing large pieces of deep blue fabric on the skirt was exhausting—not to mention the slippery plush carpet making my ankles ache after standing long in clear heels—seeing the final photos instantly healed all that hard work. This costume design emphasizes rich layering; even a simple sitting pose allows the skirt and long blue ribbons behind to spread out naturally, laying like water ripples across the white carpet. Staff on set marveled while arranging the white veil, remarking how beautifully these flowing fabrics and cool-toned lighting translate into photos.

In truth, cosplaying a character each time feels like briefly experiencing another life. Standing between these clocks representing time and quiet sculptures, I instinctively immersed myself into the character's mindset. In an era dominated by fast-food culture and parallel universe tropes, encountering a character endowed with philosophical depth and narrative richness—and materializing her before the lens—is a deeply fulfilling privilege for a cosplayer. The tailor who crafted the outfit emphasized fabric wrinkle-resistance and drape; wearing it in person, I truly felt that the flowing feel in the final photos wasn't just post-processing special effects, but the authentic texture of the fabric interacting with light.

Ultimately, this set bypassed overly complex studio CGI effects, relying instead on genuine lighting and prop arrangements to present a tactile sense of refinement. I hope everyone enjoys this work, and through these photos and my sharing, feels that unique serenity belonging to this character.
