[Koyanskaya Cosplay] FGO Koyanskaya, A Sniper Against a Pure Red Background - Image 1

I have wanted to try this color scheme for Koyanskaya cosplay for a long time. The short pink hair paired with fluffy animal ears accessories, along with that mechanical fine line extending from the glasses frame, visually builds an inhuman sense of alterity. This time, I intentionally chose highly reflective black glossy gloves for the material. This material presents a very beautiful laser-like gloss under the lens, which, paired with that industrial-textured sniper rifle prop, excellently recreates her side as a mysterious enforcer. During the shoot, the photographer specifically selected a highly saturated pure red background board; this strong contrast of large color blocks beautifully highlights the character's cool and dangerous aura.

Regarding this Fan Content Festival, the atmosphere on site was actually very wonderful, and it was great to see so many fellow fans doing the characters they love. Before going to the Fan Content Festival, I was actually a little apprehensive because this kind of offline event usually has quite messy lighting and environments. However, luck was on our side this time; the layout and color tones within the venue perfectly matched the main keynote of this set of photos. When presenting this fox, I paid more attention to grasping the demeanor, discarding that overly forced sense of cuteness and instead reflecting more of a comfortable composure, even with a touch of playfulness. The red and black color scheme holds extremely rich expressiveness in light and shadow layering. To keep the overall frame from looking monotonous, I incorporated some sheer materials and black fine string lace-up designs in the detail treatment of the upper part of the costume.

Many people might preconceive Koyanskaya as just a highly lively or eccentric character, but my understanding is that she has a hunter-like calmness in her bones. Therefore, in the movement design this time, I chose to raise my hand close to my face, letting the black gloves echo the contours of the firearms while focusing my eyes into the lens to form an immersive standoff. The rhythm of shooting this set was actually quite fast because the foot traffic at the convention site was substantial. We directly found a well-lit corner, utilizing natural light and some fill light to illuminate the details of the face. For the makeup part, I tried my best to keep the skin clean and clear, only emphasizing the sharpness of the lines around the eyes to complement the character's attributes.

Regarding the holding feel of this prop, the weight and material of this sniper rifle carry quite a bit of substance in hand, but it perfectly supports the visual center of gravity of the entire frame. A low-angle or eye-level perspective makes the figure look more slender, and this picture perfectly utilizes this physical angle to pull the muzzle and the character's expression onto an approachable plane. The laser reflection of the black gloves under the overhead light presents a refraction similar to water ripples; this kind of spontaneous light and shadow effect is very hard to imitate in post-production, so the shutter was pressed very decisively at that time. The entire shoot lasted for about an hour, during which many passing fellow fans cast curious glances. Actually, this also constitutes a unique part of the offline Fan Content Festival experience. Compared to the absolutely controllable environment of a studio session, this kind of shoot with real-time feedback and external interaction makes it easier for one to enter the character's state. To keep the gloves and the prop surface clean, I was carefully wiping away fingerprints during gaps in the shoot; these tiny everyday details are precisely the crucial links to grounding a 2D character into reality.

In fact, when it comes to Fate/Grand Order cosplay, I feel different people will have different angles of understanding, and I lean more toward recreating the first sensory experience a character brings through details. Just like this red-background photo, the more minimalist the background, the higher the requirements for the figure's styling and demeanor. Fortunately, we did many rehearsals of indoor lighting beforehand, capturing Koyanskaya's cunning yet elegant traits. This process was both grueling and filled with the joy of creation. When finally selecting the photos, this one was quite to my liking in terms of color saturation and character expression, using pure red as a base to maximally stretch the visual tension of the pink hair and black armor. Being able to participate in the Fan Content Festival in such a way, sharing my understanding of the character through a concrete image, is inherently a highly fulfilling thing.
