[Nero Claudius Cosplay] A Gorgeous Dance in Front of a European Fountain

Even though this is my third time wearing this red dress, every time I raise this red-and-black weapon in front of the lens, that full sense of control still surges to my heart. This shoot was set in a European estate-style architectural complex—the white steps, Roman pillars, and that constantly splashing classical fountain formed a very comfortable visual contrast with this red, white, and gold outfit.

The tailoring of this costume actually put a lot of thought into the details. The main red fabric used a material with a balanced drape and sheen, which, combined with the white paneled corset and gold ribbons, outlined the body contour under bright light without looking cheap due to excessive reflections. The golden tassel epaulets on the shoulders and white lace at the cuffs created great dynamic motion when turning around or swinging my arms. For the lower garment, I specifically kept that semi-transparent white sheer tulle layer, whose gold serrated lace edges echoed the golden high-heeled long boots at the bottom, visually lengthening my body proportions and ensuring the gorgeous feel of the skirt's natural drape whether standing straight or striding forward.

The weather on shooting day was quite bright, and this high-key lighting style demands a lot from costume materials and makeup. I specifically chose a matte-texture foundation to handle high-light shooting areas, while enhancing the color-contrast effect between blue-green contact lenses and red eyeliner in the eye makeup, keeping my gaze focused across both long-shots and close-ups. When selecting the location, I especially loved the white European staircase and iconic fountain water feature; the extended perspective captured with a wide-angle lens gave a strong sense of spatial tension to the character in frame.

A fountain is truly a fantastic choice for a background. When water droplets splash up, paired with just the right backlight, a soft halo forms around hair strands and shoulders, adding a touch of softness to the originally stern red military-style look. This time I brought two reflectors of different sizes to adjust facial shadows, ensuring facial features remained three-dimensional and crisp under high-key light. As for the weapon prop, although it looks large and heavy—and holding it really tested center of gravity control—its unique serrated edges and red-black contrast color made it a prop detail I thoroughly enjoyed, showing great camera appeal whether held horizontally or vertically.

During this photoshoot, I also tried various poses, like lightly holding the skirt hem while stepping up the stairs, or turning sideways to hold the sword while leaving the white architectural background exposed. Through the image, you can see the edges of the white veil trembling in the gentle breeze, giving static styling some dynamic vitality. This outfit combines military elements with a princess dress structure; choosing an outdoor European setting allowed the costume's complex design elements to achieve better visual presentation for Cosplay photography.
