[Meltryllis Cosplay] A Four-Year-Old Archive from Fate/Grand Order, Remake Plan Launching Soon - Image 1

This set of Meltryllis photos taken four years ago can be considered one of my more satisfying early completed works. It has been sitting in my phone album and was never seriously posted. Flipping through it by chance recently, that familiar feeling came back. Thinking about how both my equipment and my understanding of cosplay have taken a step forward now, the idea for an anime-style photo remake came to mind, which can also be seen as giving this character a more complete presentation.

When shooting this outfit back then, there were actually quite a few areas in the styling that were worth polishing. For instance, this white short turtleneck top paired with large detached sleeves—while the waist-cinching cut perfectly fit the character's aura, maintaining a highly extended yet non-slouching form in front of the lens truly tested core strength during the shoot. I remember using many hidden snaps and safety pins on the back just to make the fabric folds look nice. As for the lower body gear, especially that white cloud-like decoration at the hip and the overall silver pieced leg armor, just adjusting the positions and angles of these components took the photographer and me nearly a whole afternoon.

The most attractive part was definitely that ring of blue LED light strips on the ground. Before shooting, we bent the light strips ourselves on the carpet, experimenting with several spiral and looping layouts before ultimately finding this arrangement that perfectly enveloped the lower body and visually formed a sense of energy flow. Paired with the pure black background cloth, the entire frame immediately sketched out that cold and mysterious texture. In terms of props, that massive silver-blue weapon also took a lot of effort—buying materials, spray painting, pasting silver sequins, plus the embedded blue glowing elements. It was exceptionally heavy to lift, and I had to rely on both hands for support to stably strike a posture with these gorgeous weapons that was splendid yet full of tension.

The setting of the character Meltryllis itself appeals to me greatly. Her icy, elegant temperament paired with a slightly dangerous tension achieved an excellent presentation in this cool tone studio shoot. Especially with the lighting on the ground, the visual focus naturally extends all the way along the leg lines, maximizing the display of my figure's advantages, which was one of the reasons I was particularly satisfied with this set of photos at the time.

Four years have passed, and looking back at the photos from that time, I can clearly feel that I was still a bit green in makeup execution, lighting understanding, and post-color tone control. However, they were also filled with the passion and drive unique to that period. Now that I have the idea for a remake, I have already begun planning the new version. For the armor plates of this mecha style cosplay, I plan to use more lightweight materials to make the overall movements more natural and extended; for the LED lighting on the ground, I also intend to add some dynamic control so the special effects don't just light up stiffly but can coordinate with the camera to present an energy ring with a breathing feel. For the makeup, I also hope to get closer to the transparency of the original artwork.

Releasing this set of old images this time can be seen as archiving my 2D life and creating a link with the past. I look forward to putting the remake version on the agenda as soon as possible, using current aesthetics and technology to reproduce a more exquisite Lilyth.
