[Ereshkigal cosplay] Fate/Grand Order: Even the Mistress of the Underworld Enjoys a Down-to-Earth Mountain Climb

"Things I like? That would be—N-Nothing, okay! I am the Mistress of the Underworld, a gloomy woman whose hobbies are mountain climbing and making cages. It's too bright here; it's almost overwhelming. But even the Underworld, which radiates a gloomy aura, has a red light that pierces through the darkness. Today, I'm sharing this set of Ereshkigal cosplay photos from Fate/Grand Order."

Honestly, whenever I cosplay characters with such a powerful presence and deep lore, I do a lot of homework beforehand. Ereshkigal—or Eresh, as everyone fondly calls her—is a majestic and cold Goddess of the Underworld on the surface, but in private, she has an incredibly innocent and tsundere "gap moe" charm. To capture this specific vibe, the focus of this styling and shoot was on how to balance that dark, gloomy atmosphere with a touch of her vibrant colors.

Let's talk about the makeup and wig first. Blonde long hair is one of her signature features. This time, I specially chose a silky and shiny wig, but the straight bangs and long sidelocks had to be trimmed extremely neatly and sharply, which is crucial for shaping her overall aura. For the eye makeup, I avoided overly heavy black smokey eyes. Instead, I opted for a matte eyeshadow with subtle dark red undertones, blending it over a large area, paired with a slightly upturned dark eyeliner to create a sharp yet exquisite "divine" look.

The outfit details were where I put the most energy. The black off-the-shoulder top uses leather with a bit of sheen, and the semi-transparent lace sewn around the collar retains the sexy elements of the overall look while keeping it from looking too flimsy. Of course, the soul of the entire outfit is definitely the choker featuring a skull and spine-like vertebrae design. This accessory looks a bit eerie, but it perfectly matches the identity of the Mistress of the Underworld. The black crown on the head and the touch of dark red bows on both sides are key to balancing the dark tones of the outfit, while also corresponding to the "Red Angel" profile mentioned in her lore.

As for the weapon prop, this massive longbow is very heavy, and its gold engraved patterns show a rustic texture under the light. During the shoot, I had to hold the bow with one hand while maintaining a spellcasting gesture with the other—recreating the blue butterflies and shards effects in the final image. Actually, holding this bow with one hand for even a few minutes made my arm incredibly sore, but to keep a natural and relaxed look on camera, I had to grit my teeth and power through.

Speaking of effects, special thanks go to my photographer and post-processing editor "Touno" (鸢野). The atmospheric feel of the images is almost entirely thanks to their magical editing touches: blue glowing butterflies scattering from my palm, while dark red flames and smoke burn in the background. This intense collision of warm and cool tones instantly dragged what was just an ordinary outdoor corridor into the deep, mystical boundary between the Underworld and the mortal realm.

Actually, at the shoot, I couldn't help but make fun of myself. As a "gloomy woman," I had to portray a cold, "stay away" aura under the blinding afternoon sun and various bright studio lights. Even though my mind was screaming, "It's too bright here, it's almost overwhelming," I still brought 120% of my professional attitude to cooperate with every shutter click of the photographer.

This FGO cosplay creation process was incredibly fulfilling. From making the costume to adjusting the makeup, managing the on-site light and shadow, and compiling the post-processing special effects, every step poured in everyone's hard work. For me, being able to bring such a complex and charming character to life in three dimensions is a deeply rewarding achievement. I hope that through this set of photos, everyone can feel Ereshkigal's unique, stubborn yet gentle underworld presence.
