For this Kasuga Tsubaki cosplay from Blue Archive, the entire tone was set around a lazy and relaxed state. As everyone knows, her lore portrays that subtle trait where she can drift off to sleep anytime and anywhere. After thorough discussions between our team and the makeup artist during prep, we decided to present that relaxed moment of secretly slacking off on the job.

Let's first discuss the costume structure of this uniform cosplay. The dark blue suit jacket and matching skirt form the core of this styling; the tailoring needed to stay fitted without looking loose, while leaving enough room to accommodate the character's casual body language. The inner white shirt features a structured, crisp collar, paired with a wine-red bow tie that adds a warm visual accent to the cool-toned uniform. The white gloves were custom-fitted; although made of standard ceremonial white glove material, we made adjustments at the wrist tapering to ensure a snug fit that matches the character's status. The head styling is one of the most recognizable aspects of this look—short bangs in front paired with animal ear headpieces on both sides tested the stability of the accessories on top. The blue bowler hat is accented with a small white flower, adding a touch of playfulness and cuteness to an otherwise dignified anime cosplay aesthetic.

Black stockings are a crucial styling piece here, making this a standout black stockings cosplay. If paired with bare legs or white tights, this dark blue uniform could easily lose that signature charm of being reserved yet nonchalant. Black stockings not only elongate leg lines visually, but also catch the sheen of the leather sofa to elevate the photo's texture by several tiers. For props, we specially prepared a bottle of GANZANO sparkling wine. Although no wine was poured during the shoot, the black glass bottle, gold foil seal, and label details produced gorgeous specular highlights under the cool lighting. Using a black-and-gold color accent to break up the monotony of the dark blue uniform was a consensus reached between the photographer and me. The black leather sofa in the background was also chosen intentionally; the matte leather absorbed ambient light so the background wouldn't distract from the subject, while the creases and sunken cushions enhanced that cozy, sunken-in, lazy atmosphere.

Regarding lighting, we used a single-sided cool key light and created a pronounced contrast between light and shadow. The facial highlights were concentrated on the cheekbones and nasal bridge while the shadow areas had sufficient depth, making facial contours look very three-dimensional. For styling that incorporates animal ears and a bowler hat, flat lighting would make it hard to showcase the layered depth of accessories and hair. Cool-toned lighting not only aligns with the overall art style of Blue Archive, but also makes the white gloves and shirt collar look impeccably crisp, enhancing the narrative feel of the image.

When shooting the lounging poses on the sofa, there was a funny, genuine little episode. As mentioned in the post, the shoot schedule was quite long and styling adjustments took significant time, so lying on the leather sofa triggered a real instinct to "sneak a quick nap." Fortunately, this tiredness serendipitously overlapped with the character's persona. Instead of interrupting, the photographer seized the moment to capture those dazed, half-asleep instances—especially when holding the bottle in deep thought or resting a chin on one hand while zoning out, which felt uncannily true to character.

As an exploratory photoshoot, this Kasuga Tsubaki cosplay styling achieved our envisioned results in both detail fidelity and atmospheric ambiance. Personally, I loved capturing that delicate state hovering between lucidity and daze. Rather than exaggerated, dynamic poses, this restrained, relaxed, and slightly lazy posture better conveys the character's inner essence.
