Trying out this Implacable nun habit look was quite a challenge, especially the glossy halo on top and the horn-like decorations on both sides. While they look very imposing and divine in the photos, wearing them required extreme care to maintain balance.
For the makeup, I chose a light blonde, long straight wig paired with red contact lenses to replicate the character's gaze. Due to her cold and mysterious setting, the eye makeup wasn't too heavy; instead, it focused on elongating the eyeliner, paired with a slight reddish smudge under the eyes, aiming to make the gaze look sharp yet slightly detached.
The outfit features a loose black cloak with white trim, paired with an inner criss-cross lace-up corset structure. The off-the-shoulder styling adds a touch of breathing room and dramatic tension to the otherwise austere nun style. Wearing black leather gloves helps elevate the overall texture of the look when adjusting the collar.
For this shoot, we specifically chose a high-brightness, pure white studio. Handling this environment is a true test of light and shadow control because a white background easily washes out colors. Bringing out the texture of the blonde hair and black clothing relied entirely on the photographer's mastery of lighting. We tried several different camera angles and finally decided on a slightly low-angle close-up to emphasize the character's innate sense of divine purity.
In fact, every time I cosplay a character with such a complex design, it takes a lot of time beforehand to refine the wig layers and ensure the props are secure. Many details only appear on screen for a single frame, but they represent a massive amount of preparation effort. In a pure white space, the metallic reflections of the props and the hair color become even more eye-catching than they would against a complex background.
After repeated communication and adjustments, we finally managed to recreate Implacable's calm, elegant, yet slightly mysteriously oppressive divine aura as much as possible. If you like this solid-color studio shoot style, feel free to refer to the original illustrations in Azur Lane for overall composition and color palettes. It truly provides a lot of creative inspiration for anime cosplay photography.
