The finished photos of Kasugano Sora from CICF Day 1 are officially released today. This all-White dress styling turned plenty of heads on the first day of the Anime convention. The garment is brimming with intricate details: a high-collared neckline paired with a lace choker, a ruffle tier draped around the shoulders reminiscent of a capelet, and deliberate arrangements of front placket buttons and delicate ribbon bows. The sleeves are designed as wide bell sleeves, densely sewn with ruffled flounces along the arms and cuffs, while the lower skirt drapes with weighted elegance. Preparing for this look, I trimmed blunt bangs on the silver-white straight wig in advance, styled low Twintails, and symmetrically secured oversized white ribbon bows on both sides of my head. The makeup centered on a clean, translucent base paired with deeply contoured eye makeup to channel the character's detached, cool-toned melancholy.
For Day 1 of the convention, our outdoor location was set on a grassy lawn framed by modern glass-curtain architecture and red fire hydrants. The red-and-white striped cordon tape originally meant for perimeter isolation provided an unexpected yet striking chromatic contrast in camera, preventing the frame from becoming entirely overwhelmed by white and green. The lighting that day was wonderful—diffused daylight under overcast skies that was exceptionally forgiving on white fabrics, minimizing blowout risks while beautifully preserving the intricate lace and pleat textures.
Collaborating with photographer pp was seamless. We took several test shots on site to calibrate exposure and color temperature. To capture different dimensions of the character's presence, pp guided me through various postures: lightly pinching the collar with one hand while casting an aloof glance to the side to project a touch of distant coolness; snapping a candid of both hands shaping a heart across my chest for a livelier interactive warmth; standing in profile holding a clear transparent umbrella, focusing on wrist tension and shifting my center of gravity so the skirt pleats pooled naturally with languid ease; and finally, raising both hands to adjust the hair ribbons, capturing dynamic motion with lips slightly parted for an effortless, candid feel.
Outdoor cosplay shoots truly test stamina and patience. Maneuvering and striking poses in an expansive, voluminous dress across grass requires extreme care, especially since the ruffled edges on the hem and sleeves catch easily on twigs or ground debris. Whenever the wind picked up, the wig would flutter, requiring frequent comb-throughs to restore the blunt bangs and the volume of the Twintails while keeping the hair bows neatly symmetrical. White garments soil easily outdoors from dust or grass blades, so I had to inspect the back every time I sat down or stood up.
Looking at the finished deliverables, this outdoor set fully lived up to my expectations. The overall tonality is crisp and clean, with the red cordon and fire hydrants creating a vivid interplay of warm and cool tones against the pure White dress. The front buttons, lace trims, bows, and cuff flounces were all rendered with crystalline clarity. The convention schedule was packed, and the first day was spent almost entirely walking around and adjusting my shooting state. Kasugano Sora's aesthetic leans toward vintage delicacy, and realizing this full photoshoot on the grounds of CICF was the fruit of shared dedication across preparation and shooting. Given suitable sets in the future, I look forward to exploring shoots under diverse lighting conditions to further showcase the sleek wig texture and the nuanced layers of the attire.
