For this shoot, we chose a hospital bed setting to capture a Yandere nurse aesthetic. Because it was a studio shoot, the lighting was set to be stark and cool-toned, which paired wonderfully with the blue privacy curtains, background vital monitors, and X-ray films to suit the theme. Wrapping the bandages was quite an art: winding bandages over sheer White stockings required constant tweaking to showcase that sickly tension—too tight left unsightly indents, while too loose lost the desired effect. The high heels featured chunky platforms; while sitting in a wheelchair was effortless, walking even a couple of steps demanded extreme caution, especially when posing with crossed legs to flaunt the silhouette, placing high demands on leg muscle tension.
This time we formed a black-and-white duo: her black-and-red costume with a pink cross created a striking contrast against my all-white ensemble. During the shoot, we constantly searched for optimal angles to convey the fragile yet perilous atmosphere of an isolation ward while keeping the framing refined. Stethoscopes, wheelchairs, and hospital beds served as fantastic interactive props. When seated in the wheelchair, resting my weight on one leg while extending the other slightly forward effortlessly accentuated the calf curves and the texture of the White stockings. For staging and posing, the photographer coached us to stay relaxed with our gestures and maintain interactive eye contact with the camera to radiate natural charm before the lens.
When chatting with attendees at the BIG Game Expo, many expressed keen interest in this costume. In reality, it holds rich details, such as the cross on the chest, lace trims at the cuffs, and the unique neckline cut. Shooting this set wasn't about pursuing realism, but rather presenting an anime-style contrast, requiring meticulous styling for hair, delicate makeup, and perfectly smoothed clothing. Behind the scenes was physically demanding: tying my hair high into Twintails left my scalp and roots aching, and the hospital studio's air conditioning was blasting, making wearing so little all day a definite risk for catching a cold. Yet seeing the final results, every bit of preparation felt completely worthwhile. This subtly yandere cute aesthetic isn't merely superficial cuteness; it feels like self-expression under an oppressive atmosphere. Truly immersing yourself in the character lore during the shoot is essential to capturing that unique, magnetic demeanor.
