Freshly changed into this Sunohara Shun cosplay outfit, adjusting the blue and white bow hairpiece in front of the mirror immediately brought me into the mindset of Shun Small. This time, I set out to shoot an atmospheric photo set around a wooden window space.
Let's start with the outfit. The original character's black short Twin tails cosplay look is highly iconic; the wig feels smooth, and full bangs paired with long sideburns shape the face well. Soft catgirl ears on top paired with a blue-and-white gradient bow create a playful contour. The black cropped top has a loose cut with white trim; white chest prints and a fluorescent yellow-green neck bow add subtle detail. Paired below with a White thigh-highs outfit, it forms a classic black-and-white palette that many players love visually.
The shooting location was an indoor space with wooden window frames. Large windows provided abundant natural light, softened beautifully when diffused through semi-sheer white curtains—ideal for a clean, translucent aesthetic. Greenery outside added background layering, while indoor wooden elements introduced a cozy, natural vibe. A bed with light blue fine-striped sheets served as a platform after minor tidying, with an acoustic guitar leaning casually nearby to enrich the frame.
I designed several poses to match her traits. The first was turning sideways to look back, upper body slightly twisting with bent arms mimicking raised cat paws—highlighting body curves while directing sightlines toward window light. The second was sitting face-on, one finger lightly pressed against my chin with a cheeky gaze to convey Shun Small's lively charm. The third group was my favorite angle: sitting sideways on the bed, lightly pinching hair tips with one hand while extending my legs naturally. This posture fully highlighted the White thigh-highs outfit contours, beautifully rendering thigh-high textures and leg lines under soft natural light while exuding a relaxed, cozy vibe.
Photography-wise, natural light is truly the best filter. Sunlight streaming through windows created soft tonal contrast across face and clothing without overexposing, nicely brightening skin tones. To keep composition clean, clutter was avoided, focusing visual weight entirely on character interactions with window light. The costume's material and style fit this Japanese wooden aesthetic perfectly, relying on subtle details and expressions rather than flashy elements to capture her character essence.
Expression control took considerable effort during shooting. After all, Sunohara Shun's traits extend beyond just being a catgirl; key lies in balancing youthful innocence with lazy, cute demeanor. Matching motion rhythm kept moments natural and effortless. Poses like pinching hair ends or chin-propping glances reached their most relaxed state through repeated test shots. Overall, the atmosphere matched my vision for Shun Small—wooden room, warm sun, black-and-white styling with a White thigh-highs outfit combining to bring out her everyday charm.
