To closely match the character, I prepared a golden-yellow long straight wig, faithfully recreating her iconic twin side updos and blue ribbons. During this casual fitting process, the first task was adjusting the collar—I tweaked the bow tie several times so it would appear three-dimensional without looking rigid. These classic naval-inspired elements paired with white tights visually elongate body proportions in this White thigh-highs outfit, faithfully capturing the heroine's gentle yet playfully mischievous Anime girl charm from the original work.
When framing shots to embody the game's poses and expressions, I experimented with several postures. For instance, in the standing shot with closed eyes, relaxing the shoulders and arm muscles was essential to convey natural, endearing coyness; flashing a peace sign, on the other hand, brought out extra playfulness. For the kneeling pose in the third photo, I kept my torso upright with both hands clenched into fists at my chest, trying to replicate those emotional outburst moments from the game. Although my body was shifting, my gaze had to remain intensely focused to convey that emotional tension of wanting to confess "I love you."
The lighting on the day of the shoot was wonderful, with natural light streaming through the window onto the white wooden door and rug in the background, creating clean, gentle transitions between light and shadow. Under such soft diffuse lighting, no complex artificial illumination was needed to make skin tones look luminous and clear. Meanwhile, the negative space in the environment ensured that post-added chibi stickers wouldn't clutter the frame, enhancing the lighthearted comedy vibe true to the visual novel. In the original text, that unreserved affection for "Onii-chan" relies heavily on body language and subtle eye expressions when translated into real-world cosplay.
In truth, during daily fittings and shoots, capturing the soul of a character rarely depends on elaborate sets, but rather on whether you can genuinely connect with their inner thoughts in that exact moment. Dressed in these clothes in a bright, clean indoor space, I could almost feel her cheerful yet earnest approach to life. Adjusting the bangs of the wig, smoothing the garment hems, and documenting these seconds alongside the shutter clicks made this journey of materializing a 2D character into 3D reality a wonderful experience in itself. For a cosplayer, capturing a fleeting moment of true resemblance is often far more rewarding than achieving a literal copy of concept art. The tailoring fit comfortably with great mobility, allowing me to focus entirely on expressing movements and micro-expressions in this Casual cosplay shoot.
While organizing this photo set, I repeatedly cross-referenced the in-game CGs and character sprites in my gallery, observing her facial muscle shifts and body inclinations across various emotions to reflect on areas for improvement in this fitting session. Although there were spontaneous improvisations on set, the final freeze-frames strived to align with the original work's bright, healing, and life-filled tone. This costume honors the original design deeply in both texture and tailoring; walking around the room in it truly felt like stepping into that warm, heartwarming daily story—and that is the true magic of cosplay immersion.
