Inside the gymnasium of the Shanhaijing branch, the air carried a faint scent of dust and rubber balls. This time, I prepared the Halo Festival gymnastics uniform cosplay outfit. Shooting in front of the storage lockers and equipment room really offered a rich narrative feel.
The athletic jacket is navy blue, featuring white stripes along the collar and cuffs, with an open-front cut designed for easy movement. For the lower half, it is paired with navy blue athletic shorts, but what I focused on most was the pair of white over-the-knee socks. In a gymnasium filled with warm wood tones and sunlight, white over-the-knee socks cleanly sculpt and flatter the lines of the legs. The white short-sleeved T-shirt worn underneath is very comfortable and flexible without feeling restrictive during activity.
The gray metal lockers in the background, along with the wire mesh cart filled with blue-and-yellow volleyballs and pink decorative balls, gave the frame not only athletic dynamism but also a playful charm. The stacked wooden vaulting boxes nearby served as fantastic seating and support props. In the third photo sitting and drinking water, it truly felt like taking a refreshing sip during a post-match break in the lounge.
To enrich the visual layering, we deliberately brought along the blue halo prop. Mounted overhead as in the game's lore, it clearly displays her identity. In particular, the pose resting against the wire mesh cart—leaning casually against the metal railing—felt much more relaxed and natural than forcing rigid poses. For the shots sitting on the floor mats, we lowered the camera angle, utilizing prop balls to create dynamic foreground bokeh and enhance depth of field.
The makeup was kept fresh and translucent. Orange-red colored contact lenses gave the eyes a spirited sparkle, harmonizing beautifully with the long silver-gray hair, gradient ends, and fluffy ear accessories. Although the overhead halo was refined in post-production, we adjusted its dimensions and angles numerous times to ensure it looked naturally suspended in midair rather than awkwardly pasted on, truly testing the post-processing aesthetic and patience.
As a cosplayer who frequently portrays such characters, preparing a gymnastics uniform cosplay is always a challenge. Because everyday athletic styles lack ornate lace or armor, they rely much more on body language, facial nuance, and lighting to convey the character's lively spark. This time, we intentionally used warm light to simulate the gentle glow of overhead gym lights, making the skin look healthy and radiant. The intertwined navy-and-white school uniform palette, complemented by white over-the-knee socks, exuded authentic sports anime youthfulness.
Bringing a beloved character into a concrete, life-like setting in this locker room photoshoot is inherently joyful. Daily life at the Shanhaijing branch is likely just like this—filled with sweat, laughter, and cozy moments.
