[Kisaki cosplay] Blue Archive sushi challenge: Today's appetite exceeded the limit

Settling into a booth at Sushiro, warm yellow light washed over the tabletop, beside plates of sushi gliding past on the conveyor belt. Today, I was wearing Kisaki's sleeveless dark modified cheongsam, whose blue-and-white frog buttons and patterns showed off a great texture under the restaurant lights. Although I expected that wearing this outfit in public would attract some attention, the moment I sat down to order, the clash between the fictional character and the everyday setting actually felt surprisingly relaxing.

Since I also play maimai DX regularly, I made plans with a few friends from our group to visit Sushiro together. I had seen many friends in the rhythm game community post photos from a similar angle, and now it was finally my turn. Sitting at the counter, resting my chin on one hand is actually my most habitual pose between rhythm game charts or while waiting for chawanmushi. However, today this angle happened to highlight all the character details perfectly—the twin bun hair paired with straight bangs, along with the top adorned with yellow patterns and blue accents. I put a lot of effort into capturing Kisaki's signature temperament.

Choosing Sushiro specifically was not only because their conveyor belt sushi quality is consistent, but also largely because I wanted to recreate a post-feast moment for the character. When the server brought out our first plate of salmon, my friends beside me started cheering about attempting a plate-stacking challenge today. I originally thought they were just joking, but as we picked up the pace, the tower of plates on the table really grew higher and higher. Just as seen in the photo, layers of red, yellow, and deep blue dishes were stacked together, topped off with a black bowl that had held chawanmushi, creating quite an imposing sight. By the time we finished, I couldn't quite tell whether I had slowed down intentionally to maintain the character's elegant demeanor or if I was genuinely stuffed from all the sashimi and seared sushi, so I could only rest my chin on my hand for a moment.

Speaking of which, cosplaying Kisaki out in public requires attention to quite a few details—such as keeping the twin buns fluffy without messing them up while eating, and constantly checking whether collar or waist accessories might bump into condiment bottles on the table. Fortunately, Sushiro's seating layout is quite spacious and didn't hinder normal movement. The outfit's overall cut features refined details with semi-transparent paneling on the sleeves, and the color palette strictly matches the character's original design. Considering the need to protect the costume from accidental soy sauce splashes while eating, I even brought a dark apron to block stains, though I took it off for this photo to preserve the character's calm and carefree vibe.

When I saw my friend capture this photo on their phone, I knew the essence of the moment had been caught. The bottom image was a live snapshot recorded by my friend. As a veteran rhythm gamer, the sense of accomplishment from stacking up a tower of plates feels surprisingly similar to achieving an SSS rank and All Perfect on a maimai DX track. The dining atmosphere of conveyor belt sushi fits the lifestyle of young folks who love rhythm games and ACG culture perfectly—fast service, flexible pace, and a great setting for friends to chat about songs while pacing their food intake.

After finishing this grand feast at Sushiro, checking the receipt at checkout made us realize we had devoured a truly impressive amount. From the costume styling and hair/makeup design to the atmosphere at the scene, today's crossover between Blue Archive and everyday gourmet food was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. To me, cosplay isn't just about posed studio photoshoots; being able to bring out a character's fun, relatable side in real-life settings—and even having a bit of playful fun with memes—is what brings me the greatest sense of fulfillment. Sipping the last drop of hot tea officially brought today's meal to a close. All in all, it was a wonderfully happy offline gathering!
