This time, I'm sharing the early Cosplay fitting results for Ju Fufu from Zenless Zone Zero. The idea of making this outfit and its props has been on my mind for a while. Taking advantage of a creator incentive program for this character, I finally gathered all the materials and took a quick set of photos around the entryway at home—mainly to see how the outfit looks on me and whether the overall color scheme feels cohesive.
The wig is the highlight this time; I chose a very striking bright yellow with plenty of volume and layered styling at the tips, making the entire look exceptionally fluffy and vibrant. To easily style the Beast ears and tail elements, a black headband secures a pair of black tiger-striped ears on top of the head. The rounded tips look nimble and perfectly match the overall animal theme. This Anime-style fashion outfit leans into a black-and-yellow techwear aesthetic: the top features patchwork stitching where a gray bodice and black sleeves are spliced with bright yellow color blocks, while all-black sleeves extend over the back of the hands, paired with black-and-yellow fingerless gloves to deliver a sleek and cool combat-ready vibe.
The black shorts on the lower half are cleverly designed with red crisscross straps along the sides and a prominent yellow tiger paw print. The black leather strap with a silver metal O-ring on the left thigh adds to the functional and tactical atmosphere.
The most extravagant piece from the wardrobe is that yellow-and-black striped long tail. The plush texture of the tail is fantastic—with a white tip, massive fluffy volume that nearly touches the floor, and a dark blue bow tied at its base. When I first tried it on, I wasn't used to its center of gravity, causing a bit of wobbling when walking or turning around. But once accustomed, I found that this tail works wonderfully for dynamic shots. With just a slight twist of the waist or a step forward, the tail sweeps out in a gorgeous arc, creating strong visual tension. On my feet, I paired black platform ankle boots with white lace-trimmed ankle socks; this styling visually elongates leg proportions while perfectly suiting the character's street style.
This photoshoot was done entirely under indoor natural light, using the home staircase and shoe rack as backdrops. Although the environment was domestic, everyday scenes like this actually provide a very true-to-life reflection of the costume's color fidelity and details. For instance, the hem stitching, small waist metal charms, and internal support structures of the Beast ears and tail are all clearly visible. In terms of framing and posing, instead of complicated studio postures, I opted for casual, natural standing poses with subtle swaying motions to give the wig and tail an impression of catching a breeze. To achieve a candid snapshot feel, I intentionally covered my face with a phone for several front-facing selfies, naturally shifting the focal point toward the outfit's lines and silhouette.
The Cosplay fitting process was also a journey of exploring the character's personality. Ju Fufu has very distinct traits: lightweight, lively, and infused with a touch of instinctual wildness. When adjusting my posture, I deliberately lowered my center of gravity slightly and widened my stance to bring out the tactical aesthetic of the shorts and leg straps. In the photos, the leg lines stand out distinctly through the contrast between the black shorts and white socks, while the red-and-black crisscross strap details catch the eye immediately.
Overall, I'm quite pleased with the results of this preliminary Cosplay fitting. The cut fits well without constricting joint movement, and wearing the headpieces and wig didn't feel overly exhausting. Although there was no intricate lighting setup at home, the yellow palette performed impressively well under indoor ambient light; the wig has a pleasant luster without cheap synthetic shine. When heading outdoors or into a studio later on, focusing on facial fill light and ambient lighting should yield even better results. This initial record showcases the baseline look of the outfit on body. All in all, the style and aura fit the character faithfully, and trying it on truly lets me appreciate the character's unique charm.
