[Lucia cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Anniversary: Multi-Form Mage on the Lakeside Grass

This Lucia gear was prepared long before the event. Upon putting it on, I was immediately wrapped in glossy black leather and cyan color-blocking. To recreate the essence of combining fantasy with tech, the crisscross straps at the neckline and wrist details were matched as closely to the original design as possible. The black choker around the neck and the elf ear accessories on the head also added a lot of recognition to the overall Cosplay outfit.

The spellbook in my hand was handmade, with some textures and layouts specially hand-drawn on the inner pages, giving it a very solid weight in hand. The staff, featuring a metal ring and bells at the top, made a slight clinking sound when blown by the outdoor breeze, enhancing the immersion during the shoot to a certain extent. The shooting location was chosen by the water at dusk; the natural blue hour rendered the sky a translucent blue, which, combined with the soft background of distant water and woods, laid a tranquil and slightly mysterious tone for the entire photoset.

I also put quite some thought into the makeup and wig this time. Pairing a layered light ash-blue hairstyle with green contacts was aimed at bringing the facial expression as close as possible to the character's original nimble yet slightly cool demeanor using an Elf ear wig setup. Since outdoor lighting changes rapidly, capturing various actions within a few minutes was necessary. The dynamic pose with one leg raised truly tested core strength; finding a balance point on the grass was quite difficult, requiring several attempts to ensure the body didn't wobble while holding both the staff and book.

The fabric of the costume is rather unique, especially the glossy black leather parts, which easily created large areas of harsh highlights under outdoor lighting. Before shooting, I communicated repeatedly with the photographer about camera positions to separate shadow details and prop layers as much as possible. This short-cut bodysuit design indeed places certain requirements on body proportions, but fortunately, paired with a metal chain thigh ring at the waist, white long socks, and black mid-calf boots, it visually elongated leg lines nicely without looking awkward as part of a Long socks cosplay outfit. Many people worry that straps and glossy fabrics might look unflattering outdoors, but with proper tailoring and a clean background, they actually highlight the character's crisp, sharp feel.

Shooting this set at the anniversary milestone of Zenless Zone Zero was also about documenting this specific atmosphere. From trimming the wig and assembling props to adjusting makeup, I participated personally in every step. Although wearing this short-cut gear outdoor by the water at dusk felt somewhat chilly, and taking outdoor shots with lighting took several hours, seeing the sharp, valiant temperament of a battle mage in the final photos made all early preparations feel completely worth it.

Putting on a character's outfit is like briefly stepping into that world full of unknown forces. This Lucia cosplay location shoot was both a tribute to the original character's charm and a deeply immersive thematic location shoot experience. After finishing up, sitting on a bench by the lake for a while, feeling the evening breeze, and watching the water, I felt completely immersed in the joy of restoring this character. This is also one of my recent favorite works, and I hope the presentation of light, shadow, and prop textures allows everyone to feel the character's authentic aura.
