The Zenless Zone Zero duo photoshoot for Astra Yao and Evelyn is finally out, and so many behind-the-scenes details from the session are truly worth remembering! To recreate Astra Yao's look to perfection, I put extensive effort into the wig and makeup: straight dark green hair styled with blunt bangs and a white headband, paired with red-toned contact lenses and lipstick to match the character's temperament. The costume is rich in detail—a white corseted dress adorned with golden stars and circular astrolabe motifs, complemented by a red off-the-shoulder wide-sleeved coat, while the layered red velvet choker and pearl necklace add visual depth. The long staff prop in hand was another centerpiece: featuring a golden circular ring at the top and an embedded white sphere in the center, I initially worried the finish might look too plastic on camera, but against the studio's red drapes and warm yellow fairy string lights, the metallic texture turned out remarkably stunning.
Teaming up with @Ami今天一定早睡 this time was amazing—her Evelyn exuded total boss energy! A crisp white shirt under a black strappy corset vest, paired with patent-leather-look fitted trousers and tall boots, topped off with a black trench coat lined in striking red—she looked supremely sharp and badass. We spent serious thought on the lighting setup: with our outfits featuring high-contrast white, red, and black against an expansive red curtain, we utilized dedicated rim lighting to pull us away from the backdrop and give the composition much sharper three-dimensionality without blending into the scenery.
Throughout the shoot, our chemistry and interactions flowed seamlessly. My personal favorite is the shot of us sitting together on the red carpet: Evelyn with her legs crossed—her glossy black boots and sculpted leg lines grabbing instant attention—while I nestled beside her, creating a graceful, dynamic high-and-low contrast. Another standout is the composition where I half-crouch while swirling the coat hem, and she stands behind holding the staff; the fore-and-background depth paired with billowing fabric cranked dynamic tension to the max. When shooting duo sets, body orientation and eye contact are paramount. We walked through micro-movements beforehand—how to position ourselves without blocking light, how to angle hand props away from our faces, and how to lock eyes to convey unshakeable trust as partners fighting side-by-side.
The pink and white balloons dotting the background, which we initially feared might clash against the deep red backdrop, actually broke up color monotony and added a festive, playful warmth to the scene. The black audio equipment in the corner also served as a great practical prop. From costume accuracy to our shared posing synergy on set, I am thoroughly thrilled with this series, and I hope everyone can feel this sharp, badass, and stylish vibe!
