[Rei Ayanami cosplay] Neon Genesis Evangelion Kendall style Convention Shoot First Experience

This was my first time trying the Kendall style shooting method, sharing this set of photos taken on-site at the anime convention. Previously when shooting this character, I habitually used quiet, aloof, or even slightly melancholic gazes and poses, but this time I wanted to shoot something different and tried to incorporate the strong linear sense of high-fashion magazine editorials.

The convention environment is actually much more complex than imagined—chaotic backgrounds, messy lighting, and dusty-looking floors. To achieve a studio photography look, besides using black umbrella reflectors on-site, we specifically found a relatively dark area and used lighting to make the reflective texture of the Latex suit stand out even more. The Latex suit itself is quite stuffy with strong specular reflections, and any slight crease becomes very noticeable, so controlling body lines in standing and sitting poses was extremely crucial.

In terms of posing, sitting on the ladder in the first photo was actually to elongate the leg lines; the kneeling pose resting chin on hand in the third photo emphasized the curves of the waist and upper body; the stretch in the fourth photo required great flexibility, and you'll need to rotate your phone horizontally to view this angle, as maintaining the shifted center of gravity was physically demanding.

Please note that the so-called Kendall style isn't simply twisting around at will; at its core, it is an intense combination of exertion and effortless relaxation. Supporting with the ankles, slightly bending the knees, dropping the shoulders, and even that slightly languid, detached gaze are the core techniques of this shoot. This developed a new approach for Convention photography, providing a lighting and posing formula that can be applied to future conventions.
