When shooting this photo set, the location was set up in a quiet corner of the convention hall. The backdrop featured a faux pink cherry blossom tree, behind which were blue and red booth structures. To prevent the busy background from stealing visual focus, the photographer used a wide aperture to blur the background. To work with the depth of field, I had to stand very close to the cherry tree; although this blocked passersby, the resulting frame was significantly cleaner. Regarding the costume, the red-and-black plaid vest and long Red plaid dress delivered a strong textured presence. The vest is slim-fitting, and tying the red bow on the back took some fumbling, cinching quite tightly. The white undershirt features oversized retro puff sleeves, and because the fabric is relatively stiff, raising my arms felt a bit uncomfortable, but enduring it was essential to faithfully channel the character's presence. The skirt hem features white ruffled frills with dense, thick layering that easily wrinkles when walking, requiring frequent smoothing by hand to keep the skirt in shape for shots. For hair and makeup, the green wig was heavy, and the pink-and-white floral headpiece overhead added noticeable weight, leaving my forehead aching after extended shooting. The red contact lenses tended to slip, requiring frequent eye adjustments to ensure a sharp gaze. The eye makeup was applied heavily to complement the red pupils, crafting a cool, piercing, and scrutinizing look. For poses, I chose crossed arms and turning to look back over my shoulder to convey the character's proud, aloof demeanor. The prop used was a large white parasol adorned with flowers; with its slender handle and weighted canopy, holding it upright caused my arms to tremble over time, allowing rest only in the gaps between shutter clicks. In terms of lighting, the venue's overhead illumination made facial features look flat. To add facial dimension, we positioned a reflector on the left and slightly adjusted the color temperature so my skin tone wouldn't be washed out by the pink cherry blossoms. Sunlight filtering through the blossoms created lovely dappled light spots by chance, which were captured in several candid frames. This set was shot in the afternoon during optimal lighting, where convention lights blended with natural outdoor light to create a striking color contrast between the red plaid skirt and green wig, yielding richly saturated hues across the frame. Coordination with the photographer was seamless, as he guided my chin height and gaze angles throughout. Overall, it was an exhausting yet deeply rewarding Convention photography experience.
