The theme for this shoot was documenting a casual day at home in landscape orientation. To fit the concept, we decorated the studio with lots of everyday, lived-in props. From finalizing the makeup with orange long hair and red hair clips to slipping into the white sailor top and teal pinafore dress, I tried to stay in a relaxed mindset throughout. Once the blue contact lenses were in, I adjusted my bangs in the mirror, and the character's signature relaxed, languid charm slowly took shape.
Setting up the scene took considerable thought. A vintage radio, several thick books, and a wooden sailboat model were arranged on a dark-wood bookshelf. Sitting on the tatami mat holding a floral throw pillow, I was surrounded by a few giant teddy bears. To infuse the frame with everyday life, I even prepared a wooden bowl and spoon. Lifting the bowl toward the lens genuinely felt like spending a quiet, ordinary weekend afternoon.
Because we were shooting in landscape orientation, the composition differed greatly from the vertical framing I was used to. The photographer, Kirishima, offered valuable advice on camera direction: landscape mode not only accommodates far more environmental detail, but it also makes it easier to stretch out the limbs and expand the frame horizontally. Leaning against the teddy bear in White stockings with my legs stretched forward naturally created an effortless posture that matched the cozy home theme while showcasing the entire outfit.
The natural light at Xingman Yinghua Studio was fantastic. Light filtering through the side window fell across me, blending with the warm indoor lighting to give the scene a soft, gentle warmth. During the shoot, I constantly adjusted the pillow's placement, my grip on the plush bear, and the angle of my gaze. Holding these poses took stamina, but seeing the cozy, heartwarming atmosphere in the final images made it completely worthwhile. The props and plushies built a comforting, secure space, which was the core emotion this cosplay aimed to convey.
Honestly, an at-home concept tests your attention to detail more than anything. Whether it is the top edge of the stockings, the curvature of a hair strand, or the placement of small props, everything needs to appear natural rather than staged. The landscape perspective lends the images a cinematic narrative feel, like frames pulled straight from a film. During this period doing Nanning photography, collaborating with a familiar team always sparks fresh inspiration. Every shutter click preserved a moment of resonance with the character. Although the costume looks casual, extensive care went into the fabric texture and tailoring so that it draped cleanly whether I was moving or seated. Preparing the wig also took plenty of advance work, ensuring that every angle under the wide landscape lens stayed true to the character.
