Sharing my practical experience from this Tushan Rongrong cosplay photoshoot at Anime Star City.

The wig and props were the primary focus of preparation. The green wig had great texture, but the orange ear accessories on both sides tested my securing technique. To keep them from slipping in the crowded convention environment, I used multiple bobby pins and adhesive underneath, which left my scalp feeling a bit tight by the end of the day. For makeup, to match the character's temperament, I chose highly translucent green contact lenses and blended pink-brown eyeshadow at the outer eye corners to emphasize a gently downturned, innocent look. I opted for a matte nude lip color to keep attention focused on the facial expression.

The outfit has intricate details. The white wide sleeves are made of a stiffer fabric, which holds the lovely ruffles well but creates resistance during movement. The blue and yellow color-blocked top paired with a dark sash flatters the waistline nicely, while the flowing blue skirt below requires extra care when walking to avoid stepping on the hem. Especially during full-body shots, the pleats had to be repeatedly smoothed out to present clean, fluid lines.

The shoot took place at Anime Star City. The outdoor lighting contrast was strong in the afternoon, with overhead tree shade and bright sunlight from behind. The photographer paired a large aperture lens with a reflector to fill the light, effectively subduing the background while bringing out the catchlights in my eyes. Since the background was busy, we used wide-angle perspective shots to avoid pedestrians and utilized the clean diagonal lines of the architecture to highlight the subject.

In terms of character interpretation, Tushan Rongrong radiates serenity, intellect, and ease. While posing, I consciously relaxed my facial muscles, kept a faint curve at the corners of my mouth, and angled my gaze slightly off-camera to convey a poised, calculating composure. Remembering the phrase 'a single thought banishes three thousand troubles,' the goal was to convey an ethereal lightness detached from mundane worries.

My favorite frame from this set is the centered, full-body frontal shot—hands folded gently in front, eyes focused just past the lens—fully capturing the character's presence while keeping both hands and feet safely within the frame lines without awkward cropping. The condition and lighting came together beautifully today, creating a memorable set from this Convention photography session.
