Trying out this leather outfit for shooting was quite a hardcore experience recently. First of all, the lighting at the convention venue was rather complex, truly testing the photographer's lighting skills. Special thanks to Master K for using a softbox to add fill light, capturing the folds and reflective texture of the leather very delicately. The inner top of this ensemble is a sleeveless black high-neck leather piece with white piping along the collar, paired with a silver cross necklace and stud earrings, creating a visually subdued aesthetic. The outer jacket is a crisp and structured piece, forming a striking Red and black leather jacket contrast that gives off strong secret agent vibes. The bottoms are black leather pants, creating a sleek and capable overall silhouette. Sunglasses and a prop gun were prepared as accessories during the shoot. The prop gun itself was quite heavy, straining my wrist after holding it for a while, but it was well worth it to complement the cool expressions and gestures.
The second snapshot of glancing back from a side profile caught my hair just as the wind blew it up, creating dynamic tension—the wind was just right at that moment. The fourth shot is a close-up, lowering the sunglasses slightly; this gesture softened the intensity of the gaze, making the expression look more natural. Although wearing the jacket was quite hot throughout the entire shoot, seeing that the lighting and authentic textures of the final images were spot-on made all the early prep feel worthwhile. For hair and makeup, the deep purple long straight wig required careful treatment along the hairline, which, paired with colored contacts and eyeliner, made the eyes appear deeper and more intense.
Wearing this leather outfit inside the convention hall was actually quite stuffy—especially with a sleeveless turtleneck underneath a jacket, making me feel tightly wrapped up while walking around. However, this feeling of restraint actually helped me get into the character's mindset much faster. During the shoot, I experimented with multiple angles guided by the photographer: a frontal angle suited a composed look, while a profile view brought out coolness and body curves. There were quite a few passersby in the background, but thanks to framing and the bokeh from a telephoto lens, the cluttered background was separated out, resulting in very clean final frames. Such clean backgrounds are essential for showcasing character details in Anime-style photography. Finally, thanks once again to the photographer for the hard work—this set of Cosplay convention photos is wrapped up smoothly.
