[Lin Yuxia Cosplay] Arknights Here A People Sows: The Moment the Sword Draws

Yesterday I attended the Arknights Only event and walked around in this Lin Yuxia outfit; it truly felt like everyone had a memorable impression of this little mouse.

Before heading out in the morning, I was actually struggling with the makeup details. Lin Yuxia's makeup carries a cool yet sharp feel, especially around the eyes. To recreate that authoritative yet uniquely charming demeanor, I repeatedly adjusted my colored contact lenses and eyeliner angles, choosing a lightweight foundation to withstand the outdoor lighting so the overall skin texture looked natural enough.

As for the costume, the black base top is filled with regular geometric jacquard patterns, a fabric whose texture looks subtly intriguing under natural light. The sleeve design was very labor-intensive, featuring a blue gradient with transparency stitched together with an inner red gradient, complemented by two black leather belts with metal buckles at the waist that instantly brought out the overall layering. The asymmetrical skirt hem on the lower body, combined with royal blue ribbons weighted by metal clips at the ends, created a lively rhythmic clink while walking. Honestly, the heaviest part of the whole outfit was probably the fluffy animal ears on my head. They are heavier than they look because they need hard internal support to stay upright. After a full day, the strain on my neck was no joke, but for the fluffy cuteness and iconic look, running around the venue wearing them was totally worth it. The wig was a very light pink, pre-trimmed and lightly curled so it wouldn't look like it just came out of a box, fitting the character's vivid image much better.

This time I cosplayed the Lin Yuxia from the Arknights Here A People Sows series. To match the texture of this costume, I carried the prop sword with me all day. The hilt has a strong cast-metal feel; whether holding it in hand or leaning it against the ground during breaks, its weight and grip gave a deeper sense of immersion. Since the outfit itself was quite heavy, adding the sword, glossy black high-heeled ankle boots, and sheer black stockings made it exhausting, but seeing the final photos made it feel immensely rewarding. Huge thanks to the photographers on site, especially the one who produced these shots. The lighting yesterday was fantastic. In front of the lens, I tried to blend in her character traits—such as holding the sword horizontally in front of me for a combat-ready defensive posture, or the dynamic moment in the photo where I raised one leg and pointed the sword at the camera, relying on body control to convey that dashing energy.

Swishing around the convention in this outfit really made me feel like I transformed into the character. Many passersby recognized it right away as the Arknights Here A People Sows design, proving the outfit's accuracy was spot on. One detail I cared about was that the blue ribbons on the dress and the asymmetrical cut of the skirt created better motion in photos with larger movements and sleeve swings—which is why I communicated with the photographer to capture more wide-range actions.

Every cosplay comes with so much preparation behind the scenes, and that is precisely where the joy of cosplaying lies: stepping out of your own identity temporarily to experience another character's life. That is also the true meaning of conventions—gathering with fellow fans, sharing experiences, and leaving behind the best moments of your character interpretation in front of the camera. For me, as long as I showcase my best state in front of the lens and capture the essence of the character, I am more than satisfied.
