When relative humidity hits 100%, there's nothing more fitting than unleashing a holiday tempest by the water. In the lore of this Dossoles Holiday skin, when her skill is activated, the field is treated as water terrain, so we specifically scouted this expansive wooden boardwalk by the water at dusk for an outdoor location shoot. Pre-shoot preparations took considerable effort, especially character recreation. Blue hair and crimson eyes are the core traits of Ch'en cosplay; for the wig, I selected layered long straight hair paired with a black dragon-horn baseball cap, with sunglasses perched on top to fit the vacation vibe. For eye makeup, a reddish-brown tone was used to accentuate the red contacts; paired with the sharp upward arch of the eyebrows, that scrutinizing yet subtly relaxed intimidation comes through effortlessly in close-ups.
The outfit features a black-and-white techwear jacket and shorts, maintaining a crisp, competent feel while sculpting bodily proportions. Initially, I worried whether shorts would faithfully reflect the swimsuit elements from the original design, but trying it on confirmed that this layered look better aligns with Sir Ch'en's disciplined character—plus, long legs paired with high-heeled sandals provide tremendous visual punch. During the shoot, I brought along that teal-and-orange Water gun prop; its texture was faithfully recreated, looking stylish whether held in hand or rested at my side. For the full-body pose in photo one, I kept the arch of my foot taut, utilizing a low upward angle to elongate leg lines. Standing centered against the railing, bathed in the sunset glow and water reflections, the mood immediately clicked.
Photo two is a close-up; simply relaxing facial muscles and gazing straight into the lens effectively conveys the character's cool aloofness. It was quite windy during the shoot, constantly whipping my long hair up, which actually added dynamic tension to the frame. From hairstyle and makeup down to the prop Water gun, I oversaw every detail meticulously, especially thrilled that my makeup stayed pristine despite the off-the-charts humidity. Beyond the visual styling, capturing the nuanced contrast of Ch'en remaining alert even during a leisurely vacation was truly fascinating. As a long-time player of Arknights, bringing this beloved 2D character into reality brings a profound sense of achievement.
