Putting on this phantom thief attire and standing once again in the backstage waiting area of Ambience Synesthesia, W's temperament indeed requires a special space to be fully contained. This time, I chose a black and red color scheme with leather textures as the main tone, paired with her iconic white hair and twin-tails, along with this small black top hat featuring red knot details, as well as a backless waist and reflective leather material tailoring design. I hope to recreate that slightly dangerous and playful vibe of a phantom thief from her Ambience Synesthesia event appearance.
The setting for this cosplay photography session was very interesting, with alternating red and blue cyberpunk industrial-style light beams directly intensifying the overall cool-toned atmosphere. To match her identity as a phantom thief, I deliberately tried some poses with athletic tension, such as using a red steel frame for support to let the skirt and leather decorative straps on the back fall naturally, or turning around sideways to maximize the sense of pressure before the lens. The color and styling of the wig were also adjusted multiple times to ensure the silver bangs fell right between my eyes, so the sharpness of my gaze wouldn't be obscured.
As a player who frequently tries styling different types of characters, black leather and glossy materials are actually quite difficult to pull off, as reflections expose many details of one's physique and clothing seams. Fortunately, this Ambience Synesthesia-themed phantom thief costume left a lot of margin in its tailoring. The lighting conditions on the day of the shoot were very harsh, but this perfectly created a stage-like feeling of being in the dark, waiting for the right moment. Furthermore, the graininess of the ambient light was deliberately preserved in post-processing, giving the images a stronger cinematic texture, which is highly helpful for showcasing the phantom thief's mysterious and unpredictable demeanor.
After the overall final photos came out, I was quite satisfied with the level of accuracy. This work perfectly integrates the untamed nature of this character from Arknights with the highly artistic stage presence of the official Ambience Synesthesia setting. Not only the appearance of the costume, but also W's elusive and charming personality traits—I hope to convey them through the cold or slightly mischievous gaze in the lens. I hope players who love Arknights and W can feel a different kind of phantom thief charm from these photos compared to usual.
