This Carefree murmurs styling featuring the Saint of Kjerag theme for Arknights First Snow is the official finished photoshoot after extensive post-processing. The core focus of makeup and styling this time was capturing the character's serene, aloof, and self-contained elegance.
From the preparation stage, I paid close attention to the wig color selection. Silver-white wigs tangle easily when styling twin braids, requiring twice as much smoothing time as standard hairstyles. The Animal ears needed to be stable during the shoot, ensuring their base remained concealed from any angle; thus, I embedded wire inside and reinforced them layer by layer with bobby pins. Adjusting the forehead ornament was also quite painstaking—the blue beads and black teardrop pendants are delicate, and even a slight tilt would look untidy.
For makeup, I applied lightweight liquid foundation to create flawless porcelain skin. The eye makeup was paramount: I wore blue-gray colored contacts and meticulously applied individual cluster false eyelashes to enlarge the eyes, flicking the eyeliner slightly upward at the outer corners and deepening the eye sockets in a European-inspired style. Paired with subtle nose contouring and highlights, this sculpted three-dimensional facial features. A hydrating bean-paste pink lip color with a subtle sheen was chosen to prevent the look from appearing overly severe.
The outfit styling boasts rich layers. The high-necked, thick white plush collar not only added visual width to the neck but also evoked a winter snowscape atmosphere, while the large orange bead across the chest added a pop of vibrant color, breaking the monotony of expansive white. During shooting, the photographer emphasized blending cool and warm light. In Photo 3 in particular, strong light directed from the lower left onto the side profile created high-contrast chiaroscuro, giving the character a deeper, more solemn presence. The raised index finger pose in Photo 1 demanded a focused, resolute gaze under soft frontal lighting to highlight the eyes' expression, while Photo 2 showcased a more relaxed side, where a gentle smile conveyed the compassionate grace of the Saint.
I believe First Snow is far from emotionless—she carries a profound, universal love within her, requiring subtle micro-expressions and body language to reflect the warmth inside. Because the costume was heavy, turning around had to be done slowly, so we captured many dynamic candid moments throughout the shoot. In post-processing, to maintain consistent ambiance, I applied low-saturation vintage color grading to keep the skin pure white while incorporating subtle film-like grain.
The overall journey of this Carefree murmurs series went very smoothly, creating deep immersion both in costume and prop coordination and in character interpretation before the lens. Through this, I deeply felt the unique charm of cosplay: translating planar designs into living figures requires extensive detail refinement and repeated adjustments. As the cosplayer bringing her to life, I thoroughly enjoyed this creative realization process.
