This black sailor outfit paired with a red bow, plus the long golden curly wig, is honestly a set with a very high rate of stunning shots. Before shooting, I actually prepared two options for the feet: sitting barefoot on a vintage wooden chair, or switching to black tights and stockings. As you can see in the photos, under the overall warm-toned lighting, this classical study room atmosphere—whether barefoot or in black tights—complements the character's mysterious and composed demeanor. Furthermore, the small black top hat designed with golden stars, a crescent moon, and a ring is the ultimate finishing touch, instantly elevating the recognition of the entire look.
I was extremely satisfied with the choice of shooting location this time, surrounded by heavy wooden bookshelves and classical decorations. The dark background beautifully highlights the character's blonde hair, while the warm light hitting the wine bottles and deer head ornament adds depth to the scene. To match this environment, I specially prepared an antiqued brown leather suitcase and a cane with a golden ball handle. When shooting seated poses, this cane offered so much creative freedom—whether leaning it in front of me or holding it with both hands, it instantly dialed up that distinct professor aura.
In terms of hair and makeup details, to capture the character's demeanor, the eye makeup was slightly elongated to complement that subtle, half-smiling composure. For the wig, long golden curls tend to tangle and frizz easily, so I spent considerable time beforehand applying specialized wig care spray to smooth it out, ensuring the bangs and side curves flowed naturally. The neckline and cuffs of the sailor suit featured double white line piping—though fine accent details in photos, these small touches add tangible texture and rigor to the costume in actual shooting.
Regarding the aesthetic style of this shoot, I leaned toward a restrained Vintage portrait feel. Rather than pursuing exaggerated poses, I wanted to capture a natural state as if truly reading books and pondering questions in a study. Thus, in many candid captures, I was mostly leaning casually against the leather suitcase or looking back at the lens while sitting on the edge of a chair. These casual postures often carry a stronger sense of storytelling than rigid, deliberate posing.
Finally, regarding post-processing color grading, instead of going for a bright, youthful 2D aesthetic, I chose to pull down the highlights and lift shadow details, making the overall tone rich and deep. Through this shoot, I realized even more deeply that doing cosplay is not merely about imitating appearance, but rather catching the atmosphere behind the character and presenting it to the audience through one's own understanding. I hope this set of classical study room photos brings everyone a fresh impression. The dual attempt with black tights and barefoot poses in this set was aimed at finding a balance between different styles: black tights with a cane exude a refined British academic style, while being barefoot adds a touch of laziness and intimacy. Switching between these two states better interprets the character's multifaceted nature. The photographer's lighting was crucial—side-backlight outlined the silhouette while soft front light illuminated the face, giving the black sailor suit a high-end texture without falling into flat pitch-blackness. Every set design and prop selection is a reinterpretation of the character's core spirit; the prop combination of vintage books and red wine bottles perfectly aligns with the scholarly attribute of the setting.
