This time, doing Valda Cui's Pearled Maiden from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT counts as my second time formally shooting this set at a convention. What attracted me most about this outfit is that pearlescent, flowing material. The skirt hem is made of that color-shifting holographic fabric; when the overhead lights of the convention hall hit it, it reflects purple and deep blue hues, which pairs beautifully with the small tassels on the skirt to create a very lightweight sense of dynamic movement when walking. The antler branches and forehead chain on my head are also highlights of this makeup look, combined with the big silver wavy wig, attempting to restore that ethereal setting with a touch of aloofness.

This outfit can be said to be highly eye-catching at the convention scene, but it also quite challenges one's maintenance abilities. Although the armor part looks metallic, it actually uses lightweight materials as a base to reduce the load as much as possible, otherwise I really wouldn't be able to hold up after a whole day. When shooting this set of photos, it happened to coincide with the peak flow of people in the convention hall, making the background inevitably a bit cluttered. Fortunately, the photographer adapted flexibly, finding two high stools and folding chairs as simple props, and utilized a large aperture to blur the crowd into background bokeh, highlighting the details of the character itself.

When actually doing an outdoor shoot or getting convention photos, the choice of environment is very limited, and a lot of times we need to rely on artificial fill light to restore the original texture of the clothing. For instance, this outfit might lean towards looking a bit gray under natural light, but paired with a flash and on-site lighting effects, the holographic material can burst out with excellent color performance. Besides the costume details, securing the headpiece is also a big issue, especially with a long and thick wig like mine; if it's not secured well, the horns can easily shift out of place. This time can be considered as accumulating some minor experience, which can be used when cosplaying other characters next time.

Every time I see the final photos after finishing a convention, I feel that all the tedious preparation work was worth it. The Pearled Maiden itself has a rich sense of story in the game's lore; in reality, to present this character, just try your best to capture that agility. I hope everyone likes the convention photos brought to you this time.
