I've organized this set of Houshou Marine cosplay convention photos taken at the Anime Impulse venue to share! Since both the lighting and event hall environment were fantastic for photography that day, I'm super satisfied with the final result.

The outfit mainly utilizes a red, black, and gold color scheme. The upper garment is a sleeveless top featuring a sailor collar trimmed with gold over a white base, creating sharp visual contrast. The most eye-catching highlight is the deep blue gem embedded right in the center of the collar, which—paired with a matching red ribbon scarf—elevates the upper body's visual layering for a refined look.

The captain jacket is draped over my shoulders rather than fully worn through the sleeves, allowing complete freedom of upper body movement. The folded cuffs feature a rich red lining, embellished with gold thread and white lace trim, creating a seamless visual transition toward the glossy, pure white gloves. White gloves prevent the rich red tones from feeling overly dark or heavy.

For the lower half, a cropped waist-baring cut pairs naturally with white safety shorts and a slim belt to define the waistline and elongate body proportions. Sheer black tights with black lace bands just above the knee add subtle detail over plain hosiery. Deep brown block-heeled leather boots with reddish-brown folded cuffs around the ankles tie the outfit's palette together cohesively.

Hairstyling features her classic red straight-bang twin tails, framed by red ribbon hairclips edged with white lace to match the cuff detailing symmetrically. For this shoot, we found a high stone ledge inside the hall; utilizing the elevation gave my seated poses dynamic tension. The V-sign hand gestures in the first and third shots were spontaneous adjustments to create directional hand lines and playful interaction with a head tilt, which the photographer captured with incredible speed.

We set up side-backlighting to outline my silhouette cleanly while avoiding messy background hall lights. The dark background allowed the saturated red outfit to pop without feeling harsh. The sturdy block heels provided solid support on the ledge, allowing a subtle side turn to highlight leg lines effortless.

Convention photos differ vastly from studio shoots, requiring quick location scouting for lighting and angles amid heavy crowd traffic. Fortunately, we found a quiet stone ledge in a calm area of the hall that allowed comfortable seating and leaning while keeping the background clean.

The costume felt comfortably structured without the draped coat slipping. The red wig showed a healthy sheen under overhead lighting, harmonizing well with makeup. I defined the eye lines and lip color more intensely to prevent bright red hair from washing out facial features. Overall, the playful sailor collar and mature black tights outfit with block-heeled boots blended seamlessly across this photo set.
